I think about damping like this: Soft in the front will give the suspension more travel enabling it to grip more when initiating the car for a drift. When the rear is stiff, it prevents travel allowing it to lose traction and not grip.

you are very right.

take that a step further, and now you want to add grip, you soften the rear. Or if you want to understeer more (more of 4wd drift) stiffen the front. Sway bars work the same way. As well as spring rates, tire compounds (stiffer the tire...yup).

fun stuff.

I know it sounds stupid but do good tires cause the car to slide more evenly, or does it make the rear tend to rotate around the front, making it easier to spin... If that question makes any sense haha.
if anything get an exedy oem replacement if its all you can afford. mine took a nasty beating this year, 3 events without a working ebrake and its still holding up

front tires = more grip while drifting. it definitely deals with more stuff like suspension set up and all that jazz but no matter what set up you are running, if you can't grip the front then you can't steer the car

front tires pretty much dictate how much control you will have on your car once you start drifting, if they grip enough to allow. running a crappy tire will mean that you can understeer (when you're car moves at a more shallow angle than that of which your wheels are pointed)

you always want more grip upfront than in rear, or at the least balanced grip. I'm looking into advan ad08 for the front, or federal 595-RSR, and then i just run cheap tires in the rear

Okay, lol I happened to stumble on a free pair of toyo proxxes 4 in 215/40/17 so I'll stick those on the front when I get my wheels. And as for rears I'll try those sunny things you mentioned haha.

What engine and tuning does your car have to yield twice the factory rated mpg?

not quite twice lol but the last time I really measured my mileage it was stock ka, 5spd swap with the auto ecu still, no emissions, relatively strong motor (160+ psi compression across the board), cone filter intake, 3 inch exhaust, header, stock cat, piggy lip an inch off the ground, and a steady foot. Oh and e-fans that were switched off on the freeway. I got 40.something mpg on a couple runs but since the last time I really tried to stretch the mileage I've put a 5spd ecu in the car and it seems to get about 4-5 mpg less

I always 'heat cycle' my tires or w.e before i actually drive on them. i.e. i cruise around for a day or do, normal driving not very long, and let the tires get decently broken in. never had a problem with chunking. Maybe its sizing issues, like with the SS595 in 18s that always chunked

are these decent? I heard they were long lasting but cause they don't grip for shit. I know i have a stock ka and blah blah but i also enjoy keeping up speed while drifting around.

check onlinetires.com (call them before placing order) to see what they can get you. i've had amazing prices with them for a while

- Yeah it could be a size issue.

- Are you asking if the Sunnys are decent?

- Because I live in Hawaii I normaly don't look outside of TireRack and Tires easy. But even then I can get tires local for less even though there not the tires I want. I'm gonna try some Falken 912's outback and see how they do.

no aero really does help.

Nieko got 40mph in his SR on the way to vegas.

if air hits your front bumper, both sides, roof, and under the car. When lowering your car and adding aero to push all that air that is under your car out, you will take away a great percentage.

Don't add downforce...try and take it away. Skinny tires reduce friction. Spoilers control drag that flows off the roof.

Aero wasn't designed just for looks...it originated from somewhere. whether it's to add friction, or remove it.

every gap between your fenders adds friction, if you just narrowed that gap, it would reduce drag.

yeah but lots of aero companies don't even try to achieve that. i understand that it helps cause most stock bumpers are shitty and flow the air under the car too, but a lot of aero is just for looks

if you really wanted to maximize that then get something like the GRacer w/ the under panel, or get an underpanel made so the air flows completely out from under the car
