Air Gear was very nearly underground music themed but it lost it's soul somewhere along the way.

Berserk kept going in the manga, and I think it's got another animated project in the works. Loved GunGrave though. The anime was better than the game that spawned it. I still play the soundtrack to this day.

Monster is more drama than horror. It has some disturbingly mind raping scenes, but very little "gore".

Naruto is great but too many damn fillers kill it... reason I stopped watching Bleach years ago
GunGrave was based on the game of the same name, so it was doomed to be cool. But it still ended up being good somehow... also, I thought I was the only one watching "Another". Awesome show so far.

AirGear was awesome through and through, but the problem it faced is the author. Oh!Great must have ADD or something, cause he loses himself in minutia/current events all the damn time. Like when Obama was inaugurated, he IMMEDIATELY put a parody character in the manga. Then when the Occupy protests hit the media, his villain started talking about the "99% vs. the 1%" the next week.

It almost had that feel that the early part of Eureka7 nailed. Makes you feel like you could drop your life and go become a zen surf bum and everything would be perfect.

A huge part of that was the music, and the whole theme of finding freedom in something you enjoy. At least how I saw it. Makes me want to re-watch it now, lol.

The music and initial character design really sell it. The first episode is brilliant. Before all the pretense and cliche anime fighting. When the race to the finish for nothing more than honor and bragging rights was a plausible goal and all you needed for it to be emotionally compelling.

I like it more for what it could have been than what it is. lol

Wait, didn't the anime version of Air Gear just abruptly stop?

I don't remember the Obama parody or anything. I just remember not seeing any more episodes available.

im still a gundam fanboy .. currently im watching " Gundam Age " Its definitely not my favorite series but its got some great action in it. And some awesome twists that you dont expect...

some things i dont like is the style of the charactors ... sort of a childish style that kids would like.. usually its a more mature style with gundam anime so this is a first. Maybe they just wanted to try something new.

at any rate.. i love ALL gundam animes .. the cool thing about their work is all the story lines and mobile suits may ACTUALLY happen one day... plus what looks cooler than a gundam... just looks sooo badass. if i could.. i would vinyl wrap my s13 with gundam graphics. im still a gundam fanboy .. currently im watching " Gundam Age " Its definitely not my favorite series but its got some great action in it. And some awesome twists that you dont expect...

plus whats cooler than a mobile suit fight ? i personally dont think anything...

You are correct sir. I meant largely that the storyline CREEPS along, so it'd be hard to look ahead to future animation.

It could have gone most of a season before the battle with Buccha. The author rushed headlong into a battle of the week routine.

Any opinions on Xam'd? So far I see obvious signs of Nausicaa and the quality of the animation and sound is great.

Gundam 00 was great, especially if you like Wing. Far better than the chibi and kids tripe they've been shoveling out.

LOL. Yes, Age is the newest and continues the trend if hyper angular mecha so prevalent in Anime and Games today. *barf*

While the UC stuff features stiff animation, stories and char tend to be better. I hate the CG-Digital crap many new animes are made with these days.

I can understand not getting into the OG Gundam but after that it's all good. Wing is actually the weakest of the older stuff(save for G Gundam, IDK what they were thinking there) in my mind.

Meh, IIRC G was one fo the first step away from the Universal Century Stories. The concept is a bit goofy - but it actually has a good plot.

Wing had an idiotic plot with a ton of warped philosophical garbage. What it did good was animation, music and a rehash of UC and G-Gundam designs.

Seed is a retelling of UC with worse mecha design and even worse characters. 00 is wing with the same issues.

Age has been "meh" so far, character styling has been a high-point.

But lets face it, none of these shows are "serious". They are 22 minute commercials for Bandai to sell us new merchandise and model kits.

Started watching Mushi Shi last night on Netflix. I like that its like a collection of short stories...in that the main character is in each episode but the episodes are not tied together in any way. Its nice to not feel like I have to watch all 24 episodes at one time, hahaha.
