hey whats going on guys?? look before everyone gets down on me for something that might have been posted im VERY new to this and i have been through the RB FAQ thread a couple times and i didnt see anything.

whats the ideal engine management system to run on the RB25 in my s14? im leaning towards the apexi power fc ... any suggestions? please also explain why...any input is appreciated.

this is lame. you don't even explain your setup or anything. standalone aren't for noobs . FIND A TUNER . no point in buying an ecu if you can't find anyone to tune it. you do realise gown expensive a good tune is right ?

find carl h. on the forums. he is an rb tuner with a very good reputation. he had done my tune and its worked very well for a few years.

yes youre right i completely forgot to list what ill be running ... like i said new to this ... im located on Long island ... ill have freddy style intake manifold, stock turbo, stock injector, fmic,stock TB, upgraded fuel pump, turbo back 3" exhaust (straight pipes), boost at 10-11psi, basic setup for now...but still unable to find a series 2 ecu to complete swap SO figured might as well get the standalone to support future upgrades....unless you know someone selling a series 2 ecu...besides i didnt want to be limited to fuel cut off speed limiter and other handicaps when dyno tuning like my last 240...

It really depends on how deep your pockets are. I had a power fc to start off with but didn't like it so I went with a haltech. One of the main reasons I went with the haltech was because the local tuner at that time was a master dealer for haltech and they were very knowledgeable with the software. The haltech is pretty user friendly, the problem I have now is that I moved and I haven't really found a good tuner yet . With that being said, I do not do my own tuning I leave that to the professionals. Do some research and it really depends on how much money you want to spend. Hope this helps.

hks f con v pro would have all the settings available in the software for that engine.

look into nistune. inexpensive compared to other ems's out there. nice part is that you can exchange tunes over the internet. find somebody using the same or similar setup and get them to send you their tune (if they are cool). and it's really user friendly. any tuner should be able to use it with ease.

thank you very much for the postive feedback... i hate people that bash the new guys for asking quesitons... sometimes searching on here isnt as eay as it sounds... i have actually emailed Nistune and in order to run that on an RB you need to get an N/a 300zx ecu and have them reflash it bc as of yet Nistune doesnt offer a direct RB25 ecu solution. im going to have to talk to the tuner my guy deals with and ill let you know what i decide.. again thanks very much for the help !!

I would use EcuTunerGuy, he's affordable (no middle man) and has tuned both my ka-t powered cars (s13 and Datsun 240z) my ka24de n/a, my infiniti q45 with ethanol and gas tune with 150 shot of nos, my subaru wrx, and my rb26det build (he wired it and tuned it to run with an rb20det ecu.

I haven't had issues with his tuning ability, hes a genius with math and programming! blows my mind!!! he's local in San Diego area, but also will talk to you on the phone before shipping out your product and will retune if you change setups or run into trouble with very quick turn-around.

Like everyone is saying, i would stick with a stock ecu and just have it chipped and tuned. the stock tune is good for stock, but when you want any mods done you need to change the timing and fuel maps to make it run properly, just like the stock computer runs stock so well! the stuck ecu is amazing and is sufficiant for almost any modification and can be programmed to run just about any maf, injector size, turbo, launch control, and you can go back to stock or have multiple tunes and change them, at any time.... stand alone is not necessary unless you are starting with a non-tunable ecu or no parameters like: like add vvt sr20 or rb25 head and fuctionality on a non-vvt engine with non vvt ecu.
