Was somewhat let down with the way Another wrapped up.
Still very good and I recommend horror fans see it.

On another note, saw GYO over the weekend...
haven't seen something this disturbing in quite a while.
Definitely not for the faint of heart.

Was it good?

I just watched the trailer and I'm a little disturbed? Maybe it's more of confusion..? Idunno, interesting though.

So I watched Akira last week and I thought it was terrible. Does that make me a bad person?

over the top grotesque
some imagery may keep you awake at night
characters aren't likeable for the most part
I wouldn't call it 'good' but the story was interesting enough to keep me watching till the end despite the sickening stuff
wasn't satisfied with the ending, left too much stuff un-answered imo
watch it if you have a strong stomach

it's horrible dubbed, better subbed.
classic anime, not a bad job considering how much stuff was left off the graphic novels.

this.

i was surprised the makers were able to leave that much off and still have a somewhat comprehensible story.

I remember before I started watching any anime I was recommended Akira but never ended up watching it. Kept getting it recommended to me by different people as if it were the "poster child" of what anime "is."

So I finally watched it, and it's definitely not something I would recommend AT ALL to someone who isn't big on anime. It's just a giant ball of "WTF?"

Think I'm going to start reading Manga since Another ended and I don't see anything interesting at the moment, so I'll probably give Akira another chance at some point.

I was going to re-watch Elfen Lied but decided to look for the manga first and what the hell? There are 107 volumes??

could not agree more. Everyone preaches about akira but they leave so much out in the story that it barley works. The storyline is the movie is way to rushed and does not make much sense..

I've been around anime long enough to realize that this changes from time to time
Urusei Yatsura, Starblazers, Kimagure Orange Road, Maison Ikkoku, Ranma 1/2, City Hunter, Bubblegum Crisis, Kenshin...
I doubt few people nowadays know or have seen all these titles but they were considered "anime poster children" at one point

Just finished 'Noein' and really liked it. It didn't end with quite as much of a kick as I was hoping, but the theoretical physics theme of the anime as awesome.

I am on episode 5 of 'Ghost Hound' now and its looking like its going to be pretty good.

Curious, what's your list consist of?
Other than some "tentacle/demon" stuff, I can't think of anything

my top 3 (in no particular order)

violence jack (manga and anime)

Amon

Genocyber

the arrow scene and the eating scene from amon still make me shudder just thinking about them. when I first saw amon I actually got sick to my stomach from it..

We have Netflix again so I was going through the anime section and came across Speed Grapher..

Started watching it with my wife and then it got to the scenes where he goes underground to find out what's going on with all the CEO's and Exec's..

Wow.. shit was so awkward..

Netflix really needs a "Rated 'xx" for 'yy' scenes" on it's Xbox interface
