![]() Hi all, can i set timing with a timing light by just adjusting cas? or do i have to take the valve cover off and line up all the timing marks ? the car starts so timing cant be off to much i just want to make sure everything is good. Please dont insult me im a part time backyard mech lol

You can if the car is already running. But if its the first time you're stabbing the CAS in, I always stab it with the valve cover off to ensure the mechanical timing is spot on from the get-go.

Flip is right, pull the vc and be done with it. Once it's stabbed right you can use the timing light.

If you stabbed it properly in the get go, then you just need to retime it with the gun. Remember, you want it to line up with the 2nd dot from the right when shooting it.
