how many times have you blown your slave cylinder?

for the past 6 months...
I've replaced my rubber clutch line twice because they ripped apart both times.
and then I got myself an SS clutch line.
Since i've put in my SS clutch line.. I've blown my slave cylinder 3 times for the last 6 months! :hammer: including today!
yes... my slave cylinder blew again today!!!
but then again, i bought the slave cylinders from either advance autoparts and o reilly's. the cheap ones...

right now.. im using TRU-TORQUE slave cylinder and im going to replace it with the same brand...
but not for long..
im thinking about just getting one of those KNEEZMOE slave cylinder so i wont have to deal with this again...Do you guys know any other good brand slave cylinder?

Take your time since right now i gotta fix my car which by the way I left it in some chinese restaurant's parking lot..

yea maybe I abused the clutch too much... lol!!! damn drift events...
the new slave cylinder is in.. but Im pretty sure it will go out again in the next 2 or 3 months...
I gotta find myself a better slave cyl before then...

All of this started whenever put my SS line + spec stage 3 clutch in about 6 months ago... and I bypass my SS line to run straight from the metal line to the slave cyl too..

heres my Question seeing that all you guys have S13s...did you guys take the damper box off? Im bout to run a SS line on my S14 connected to a nismo slave...ACT extreme 6 puck unsprung. Debating if i should disconnect the damper...any opinion on this? I havent seen or heard a whole lot of S14 guys bypassing it, mostly S13 guys.

Where is it blowing at?? .....near the metal nipple head or around the side seal?? If its blowing around the sides then get a hose clamp and see if that helps it keep the seal.

i bought mine new from nissan and never had any problems with it -- running SS line directly, no problems what-so-evar.

stop buying cheap shit.

dont worry.. i wont buy cheap shit anymore.. i learned my lesson

it leaks so bad from the piston.. the cylinder wall had a lot of dark deposits
its leaking so bad its not actually leaking... its pouring...

fliprayzin: yea i ditched the damper box.. i bypassed mine.. its actually a lil bit more responsive and a lot easier to bleed..

a friend of mine is running ACT 6 puck unsprung too in his SR.. and he also dicthed the damper box...
his clutch is not that stiff... my 6 puck feels a bit more stiffer than his actually.. but still drivable.. i like it stiff

yea i replaced my master too 3 months ago... and im kinda skeptical about this cuz i bought the "cheap" master cyl... lol

just buy nissan from now on and you'll be fine.

if you ever get around to pulling shit apart of feel like getting fancy, check out the nismo products.. i dont think they are that pricey (wholesale atleast).

be sure to maintain your fluids, i am sure that helps longevity.

never had a problem either, ss clutch line, no damper box. stock clutch, and no drifting. I wouldn't doubt it if my car still had the factory original slave cylinder.

these devices are nothing mysterious, they are just hydrolic controlled pistons w/ rubber seal and dust boot.. big stink. if you buy cheap shit or use used parts, the seals are obviously old and will have problems.

When I had to buy my new clutch MC I spent about 100 wholesale or so. I compared the diff between the cheapie 50-60 dollar version with the one I bought, and it was SO obvious when you tinkered with them. The cheapie used REALLY shit quality dust boot and seals, you felt how UNSMOOTH the piston travel was.. it was crap. If you pop open the resevoir you could see the rough casting. For those of you wondering, rough casting is NOT good for bushings.. it eventually will eat away at the bushing and cause failure. The better quality one was polished.

I ended up having to fully take apart my clutch MC because I (haha) used the JDM one (i converted from auto to manual and in the process used parts off of a clip).. the size of the MC's are similar but the JDM vs USDM was a bit different, so I just swapped internals. The seal is the only part thats important.

Same goes for the slave cylinder. Although, the NISMO one has minor differences which give the pedal an easier feel (from what i've read) .. so.. while the design may vary the concepts are all the same.

My OEM slave cylinder gave out earlier this year at 130k. It had a disagreement with a tight 1st gear section of an autocross course The clutch fluid was disgusting when I changed it, looked more like mercury than brake fluid, it had most likely been in there for the whole 130k miles.

Speaking of the slave cylinder. Does anyone else have problems with that damn bleed valve? Mine is so damn stripped. I have the hardest time keeping a wrench on there. Now the only thing I can use are vise-grips. I think I need to buy a new one.
