Zilvia owners typically have shitty cars so they will say they aren't reliable, however, if you find one with a stock motor that's been taken care of, they are very reliable. I daily mine (around 50 miles a day 4 days a week) and don't have any problems, not to mention I CAN get 30mpg if I drive conservatively.

Everyone is saying they aren't reliable because they don't want this moron to buy one. He obviously knows nothing about cars, anyone with half a brain will tell you a well maintained vehicle is very reliable, especially a Japanese variant.

So in true Zilvia fashion, get fucked, buy a Honda. Lock this piece of shit thread.

this. when i daily drove an s13, i'd be ordering replacement parts and/or looking up solutions on this site about every other week. it's seriously always something, but the parts are nice and cheap.

When mine wouldn't trigger the factory alarm and lock me out of starting, it would be reliable.

the people who say "they always need something" are incorrect. The reason why they always need something is because they are enthusiasts. If you do regular maintenance and DGAF everything else then you're basically fine for life. although the motors are old and the rubber seals/gaskets will wear out with or without driving so just keep that in mind.

Whatever, they're reliable as hell if you find one that was well taken care of and not modded.

240's are reliable... My brother had two s13's which he DD and both never had any major problem and the one he passed down to me only had a dead battery problem. Just dont beat them up to bad and you wont have a problem if you keep up with maintenance.

I bought mine new and its been VERY RELIABLE. Still runs good as new since the early 90s. Mine is stock and did all the required maintenance for most of its life.
Of course today you would be buying one used so it will come down to how the previous owner(s) took care of it.

Put it this way, the "newest" 240sx was made in '98. If you are looking for a reliable car without spending retarded money on a old ass car, look at a civic. I have pounded my 2004 Civic and it has never given me an issue. A 240sx, imo, is mostly a 2nd car now a days.

For the price people are asking for beat up rusted out 240s, you're better off getting a newer used car.

a stock pristine condition 240 was my most reliable car. You don't mod it but keep up maintenance and it will take care of you.

Build up your mechanical skills, and no car will be a problem, just money for new parts to install yourself will be key.

My coupe has been the most reliable car Ive ever owned. It doesn't "always need something". Sure it needs a couple things right now, but none of it is something that HAS to be replaced immediately. However, I have had problems with the other s13's Ive owned... Maybe I just got lucky with my coupe.
