Greddy TD06 kit. install HELP! (Need GOOD PICS and info for fuel rail)
Please help me out guys... I am installing the Greddy TD06 kit myself due to I wont pay 1300 for a shop to do it...
1st question... If you installed your kit... How did you get past installing the Turbo manafold with the stock log studs? Or did you replace them with the 4 extra short ones I found with the fuel rail... PICS PLEASE! god ones that show the studs even if put together... 2nd question... The fuel rail... I have no idea what some of the parts are for that come in the package... Could I get PICS of your fuel rail to help me install mine... I need Fuel inlet and outlet pics and injector pics... All put together! ALSO! if any of you have pics from your install about your intercooler... no instructions are with it... + the Greddy TD06 instructions SUCK! Thanks for you help!

BTW guys the Greddy instructions blow so hard... Its just easier to go by the pic’s, and wing the rest...
I found where the intercooler goes... its easy to see once you hold it up in the front... The injectors and total guess work... I don’t see any other way but how I did it though. They are all in and look very nice. btw there is no + side on any of the injector stuff that came with the kit... So I rewired it just like the old wires were cut off. (shrug... hope it works) The manifold... what a bitch! So I replaced all the bottom studs that hit with it short ones... My old exhaust seal was torn up a bit on the 1st cylinder... Well I guess it toasted those studs... one broke at 30lbs when I was toruqing on the head... Now that set me back cuz I have to take it all off and get a damn easy out. The oil return line I had done at a shop... I don’t have a welder so it was just easy this way. The ECU I have all done (a while ago) Anyways... So far I have about 8 hrs for the ECU wire and mounting + the Pro E-01 wires and mounts... And about 7 hrs into the rest.... 15 hrs so far... If this all works for me I will make note and take pic’s of everything... Tell how I did it and stuff... So there will be a little more info on the web once I am done. btw HAPPY B-DAY ME! EDIT: BTW the best way to reach the bolts under the mani are shot wrenches... Or a craftsman 14mm cut in 1/2! lmao... I got some crow's feet and they work good... The wrench is easy and does not cost $60 for a kit of 10... or $8 each.

Red,
I hate the GReddy turbo kit. I want to blow one up with a ton of explosives cus its such a poorly assembled package for the end-user. Anyway, as you know and mentioned, the manifold SUCKS. What did you do about the 4 bottom studs? The instructions only say to replace the bottom stud on #3 (which we did) and the nut + lockwasher were barely able to thread onto the stud (not enough threads!). #1 is IMPOSSIBLE to tighten with the stock stud on it (no clearance for wrenches, even used crow's feet), #2 can only be tightened so much (eventually, you run out of clearance), and #4 just completely hits the back of one of the runners and bends! What a piece of shit! The instructions dont even mention these issues AT ALL! Further, the PS hose that you need to cut to 400mm (or whatever) and replace fucking kinks! Did you have any problems with the PS line? What did you do about the studs? Buy new ones? Cut the old ones? I was thinking of just taking a dremel to the old studs and cutting them down toclear, but I am afraid there wont be enough threads left for the nuts to tighten properly... Thanks in advance |

LMAO!
Yep... this is why it took me 35hrs to install... I replaced the bottem 3 studs with the short ones that came in the kit... Then I used my old studs on the Manafold to the turbo... To get to the studs I took a 14mm wretch and cut it in 1/2 and then ground down the end so it would turn farther... I posted a pic somewhere. For the PS hose my kinked too... I ran mine under that metal coverd hose... The I pulled it up tite anfer all the piping was on and cut it shorter and attached it... It still made a little whine untill the engine bay heat made it softer... and the little kink that was left went away. Anything ells just ask.

Would it also be possible to post pics of your completed install? What did you use to get the oil sensor fitting out? Thanks for the info, I will try it out. Last edited by kazuo; 05-19-2004 at 05:17 PM.. |

The top stud on the CAT I used 3 extenders to reach... worked good... If thats what your talking about?
The kits not that bad... The reason I got this kit... 1: Comes with real fuel management... E-Manage.. And fuel Rail... Not some POS Rising Rate Fuel Pressure crap.. 2: I would rather have NO boost controler then some manual boost... Becus I read to many posts of the manual boost controler spiked and blew the engine up. 3: No matter how pain in the ass the manafold is... I dont think its ever going to crack. I think this kit was easy to install... It only took me so long becuse I had to make up my mind how I was going to do it... (the instructions they had out when I got my kit were broke as hell). But once you stop and look for a bit... It all falls into place... Just look at the pic's in the instructions. BTW... Replace ALL the engine studs with short ones... (if you can) My old manafold gasket was blowen out and cooked a stud... It broke inside my engine at only 5-lbs... So old studs are a no-no I think...

Well that has been my dilemma. I really like the kit for all that it has but am detered because of some of these issues. I have also been worried due to low dyno results from people such as RED. How does the manifold fit disregarding the install issues? Are the runners properly matched to the head? Are the clearances to the master cyls. good? Does it appear strong and high flowing (for a cast design)? What else do you like/hate (again not taking install issues and instructions in to play).

I like the cast manifold... I think it will be VERY strong and last a long time... also it fit fine for me... (Except the bolts... but that’s a small issue)
The turbo compressor side comes close to the power steering reservoir... But it does not collect that much heat at all... The turbo does not get that close to the master cylinder... I would buy the heat reflecting tape and put it on the lines. But it's not an issue if you don’t. I don’t have any on mine and its fine... I also like that the intercooler for this kit went in so easy (Cutting the bumper support took a while) The intercooler cold pipe does not require you to move the battery... that’s a plus for some people (mine is already moved) And I hear the kit bolts right up to the Greddy SR down-pipe... (I have not done this yet buy will buy one very soon... If it ends up true then you can replace the CAT on any s14 with it) I'm going to do real tuning on my Greddy kit soon... I only did a base with a small change... Once I get the sr down-pipe I can install my wideband 02 and do some 3am tuning... I just want to get it to 12/1 a/f then go to the dyno shop.

So you reccomend it then? I really like how complete the kit is and for the price it is very complete. I have been looking at this and the XS Engineering kits. I have been tempted by both. Damn decisions.

Just bought the kit/FMIC for my 95 240sxse
Red,
Just ordered the kit (Will be here next week), and was wondering if you could email me any pics or anything else that may help me do the install. Everywhere I look there is nothing but how bad the instructions are. Also my car is OBDI and the Emanage is going to be setup for OBDII, any suggestions or even better any map setup you reccommend? Thanks for your help and your time. --ED T. |

RPSPORTS- Thanks for the info, I already bought the kit so, the custom option is now out of the question, but thanks for the help anyway. I will keep everyone posted on the buildup and the final results. I am located at Fort Rucker, Alabama. If anyone lives close, that may be interested in helping.

I do have to admit the kit is easy to install... but the hard part is figuring out how to install it.... if they had provided soe better instructions and some berrer customer support... then my install would have taken shorter.
