the thermostat housing will fit, but it sit closer to the block than the dohc, you will need to bend/reroute some vaccuum stuff to make it look clean.

As for the timing covers go, i assume you could, the bolt pattern is the same, but the distributer/oil pump holes would need to be plugged up. Also the crank pully sits out about a 1/2" farther on the sohc than the dohc. So you will need the sohc alternator brakets to keep the belts lined up.
