why put a silvia front end on a us chassis?

Why put kouki goodies on USDM hatches?

why join an s-chassis site about 8 years too late and question people deep in the game?

The world may never know.

This hella made me lol.

I have a question for those deep in the game. (or anyone with an opinion on coupe trunks)

I am leaning towards a restore with possibly some factory options, after body work and trans conversion I am considering the OEM trunk rack. I have been around 240s a good while now, mostly hatches, but have known people with coupes and been to car shows etc... I have not once seen an OEM trunk rack on a coupe in person. Are they hard to find? I assume that means they will be not cheap in good shape. Should I waste my time when I am ready? Keep the vert wing/ trunk and paint it when the body is ready? Or go wingless? I am most likely going to buy a wingless trunk soon anyway.

I do really like Rocket Bunny wings, but seeing I wont ever put a kit I cant see putting that wing with stock body, though it might not look bad with a front lip?

This is my first S coupe, would not mind knowing what coupe enthusiasts think

Why not? Enough people have painted solid colors over the sweet two-tone cars already. Might as well do it the other way around. But only on coupes, and NEVER with a chuki bumper.

That's because they are insanely ugly.

My brother said the same thing, but I like them so this opinion does not matter.

Most importantly it doesnt really answer any of my questions.

More just wondering about how hard they are to find and price if found if anyone knows.

Not really asking an opinion on WHY they are rare, or hard to find, I can assume that on my own based on what popular opinions are on them.

So if you have an opinion that more answers any of my question, would be much more appreciated than the negative style opinion you have.

You must be new here. Welcome to Zilvia. Peep my sig for more info.

I DID answer one of your questions.

You asked if they are hard to find... YES. Why? Because there aren't many of them. WHY? Because they are UGLY.
Same reason why the creamy-yellow coupes are the rarest US-market two tone cars. Not many were ordered because they're the least attractive of the three color schemes (though, it does grow on you).

Perhaps NICO would suit you better if you think my first response was too negative for you. You asked for coupe enthusiast opinions, and that's exactly what you got from me.

But, to answer your question on price... If for some silly reason I wanted one, I wouldn't pay more than 20 bucks for it. I've seen a few on beat up stock coupes, but never on an enthusiast car, and in the 6+ years that I've had my coupe, I've never seen one come up for sale.
Hell, you could probably make some money by trading your winged trunklid for a racked lid + cash, as you'd be doing the owner of the car with the luggage rack a favor.

Rare doesn't have to mean expensive if the part is rare because of low production demand due to ugliness. So, price it accordingly.

Did you buy it!?! If you did I'll give you more than what you paid for that thing!

You have no idea how much that car would've meant to me. :/ The car that's in my avatar was my first car, a two tone just like the one I found today on craigslist. That car had more problems than anything else in the world (reason why I was forced to sell it) but I put it together myself (I bought it as a shell but the guy gave me a spare single cam he had at his house) and loved the shit out of it. In total, I've owned 5 cars now with my e36 being my 5th and there's nothing I want more then another two tone coupe like the one I had.

And the one I saw on craigs list was more than I could've ever wanted. It had just 130,000 miles, all stock and original, and a few new things that had been replaced like brakes and tires. Long story short, I emailed the guy twice within a minute and then kept refreshing my email on my iphone and checking my calls every single minute for a few hours until I got home and went back on craigslist to only find out the ad was gone. The ad was only on for almost just 2 hours but that's all it took for somebody else to find it. Depressed as shit now being that only weeks after selling my first car I was already regretting it and trying to find it again or even a better one just like it and today, a year later, was that day.

/coolsobstorybro

pictures of said first shitty car

this picture below is from the ad I saw on craigslist when i bought it

the shit engine

and the empty bay when i first got the car

I just flew by a cop in my two-tone doing a bill twenty, got pulled over and DIDN'T get a ticket. I thought i was going to lose my liscense, i told the guy 'sorry my speedometer doesn't work' and he told me to slow down and walked back to his cruiser. Craziest thing that has happened to me in a long time. Also a bum told me he liked my car as i was leaving a coffee shop twenty minutes before this happend. He also told me that jettas are for [insert homosexual slur here], said he read that in a newspaper.

yea i forgot that talking about our cars isn't the purpose of car forums. And none of us ever stretch the legs of the vehicles that we build to go fast. on an empty straight freeway. at 4 AM.

here is a picture because reading something that doesn't interest you hurts your brains:

I just flew by a cop in my two-tone doing a bill twenty, got pulled over and DIDN'T get a ticket. I thought i was going to lose my liscense, i told the guy 'sorry my speedometer doesn't work' and he told me to slow down and walked back to his cruiser. Craziest thing that has happened to me in a long time. Also a bum told me he liked my car as i was leaving a coffee shop twenty minutes before this happend. He also told me that jettas are for [insert homosexual slur here], said he read that in a newspaper.
that is so damn cool
