Yeah, this is All-Grain Brewing. You have to steep the grains to get the sugar out of them. This becomes the Wort. Then you boil the Wort with Hops. Then cool it down and put it in the fermenter.

The one step method is to get DME or LME. Basically a company malts the grains then dehydrates it to a liquid(syrup) or powder. You add it to boiling water and it becomes your wort.

Unsure if anyone else went up to the fest, but just got back from 'The Festival' (Shelton Brothers and 12% imports hosted it) up in Mass.

Some freakin fantastic stuff to say the least. I think the standout breweries to me were Gueuzerie Tilquin (Belgium), Crooked Stave (Denver), Freigeist Bierkultur (Germany..their Gose was YUM) and Le Trou du Diable (Quebec) by far...some awesome stuff from then for sure.

The Cantillon stuff was all excellent for sure (Fou’foune is way underated IMO) as was the de Struise table. Saint Somewhere's Cynthiania was nice, and the Cambridge beers were good. May be forgetting some, kind of got lost to a point with the gang, but had ZERO truley bad beers. I'd totally suggest checking this out next year...this is the single best fest/tasting I've ever been to bar none.

Must read this entire thread, but on a short note, if you like thick beers, and or black and tans, you must try Mississippi Mud, thick like molasses, also if your a floridian, go to tampa, and take the yuengling factory tour, and another favorite of mine, STELLA ARTOIS FOR LIFE, and another beer every enthusiast should try is Old Speckeld Hen

I hate beer so I just go straight to the strong stuff. What's weird is that all the 12% alch beer seems to have been pulled off the shelf out here in O.C. excluding those nasty Loko and XXX drinks (TOO SWEET!) or the expensive Arrogant Bastard drinks.

There is one out of the four 7Elevens out in San Clemente that sells CamoBlack. BUt I don't live in San Clemente Anymore =/.

So Steele Reserve, Earthquake, or High Gravity is for me.

The faster it dulls my sense of taste the better. I'm more of a Spirits man.
