Leaky Oil Pan
so i checked this leak out and it looks like to remove and reseal the oil pan, you have to remove the subframe of the car?? the pan goes all the way back over the subframe and it looks nearly impossible to remove those bolts and pan without removing the sub frame. i am droping like a quart a weak here, on top of that it looks like there is oil leaking from where it meets to the tranny also.
IS THERE AN EASIER WAY OF FIXING THIS LEAK??

I'm sure you can do it the opposite way, disconnect the engine and lift it up a few inches. But if you drop the subframe, you'll still need a hoist to hold the engine in place. The oil on the back of the engine where it meets the tranny is either oil that flows back there from the oil pan, or is there because your rear main seal is bad.

JETBILL- A couple others and I have been discussing the oil pan in another thread about the greddy turbo kits. I have been trying for about 3 days to get mine off, talk about major pain in the butt. You do have to remove the cross member bolts and the front sway, and the tension rod bolts. Then lift the engine up far enough to get the pan out. Once its out I would leave the car exactly where it was so you can get it back in. Like I said I'm having a heck of a time with mine but others have said they came out easy, so good luck to you.
You can also use Hondabond for the gasket, which they sell at Honda for about $5-$10 a tube compared to buying the RTV that Nissan sells which is really expensive. Autozone/Advanced Auto also sell an aftermarket gasket for the 95 240sx but I have never tried one and don't know anyone that has. Hope this helps. |

Yea, you can unbolt the motormounts, jack up the engine, unbolt the oilpan, ect. I just used Permatex RTV Grey, as that's practically what Nissan sells.

one thing nobody mentions is that you have to take off the braces between the tranny and the block at the back of the oil pan. Be very quick about getting the oil pickup bolted back on when you do it, when the rtv starts skinning up it's not going to make a good seal. I mention it because it took me forever and i had to wipe all of the rtv off and reapply then try it again. don't over tighten the bolts either.

seems like there doing swaps on every corner here in Florida, kinda of like pizzaria's in new jersey. any recomendations on shops in the area?? im very handy, but i dont think doing the swap in my parents driveway would be a good idea yet. maybe wait until i get a house down here, or find a inexpensive shop to do the sr. Enjuku is 5 minutes from my office...hmm

I'll tell you who to go to. XAT in Tampa if you want just a simple, cheap stock swap. If you want anything technical, I think they're assholes and morons. In that order. I asked why my car didn't idle right. First he said bad a/fs. I said "No shit. Where is the air getting in at?" and rather than answer the question, he said "Your intercooler is too small." WTF! It's a Spearco 30"x8"x3.5". Morons.
If you want a swap done the right way, or any extras on it (and don't we all), go to where Enjuku gets their tuning done. Secret Services in St. Pete. PM me if you need directions/contacts to either of them. I don't know if Enjuku does the swaps, but I know they sell the motors/clips. And people come to Florida just to swap I think. No visual. No smog. No hassle from the cops. We even got into a conversation about my turbo 240. LOL! -Jeff
