Ok. This is for all the newbies that are planning on doing the s15 conversion to the S14. I have been getting a lot of IMs/Questions about how to wire up the low beams correctly. I, once in my life, was like you, I went around asking people how to wire up the headlights correctly and have failed to get a complete answer. So I did a write up on how to wire up the low beams. I am sure with this guide you can apply it to the signals along with the daytime driving lights. Again, this is for the s14 > s15 conversion, NOT the s13 > s15, s13s alerady have a wiring harness that makes it really plug and play, you can purchase it from http://www.takakaira.com/

NOTE: I am not responsible if you mess up your s15 headlights.

Tools/Items Necessary: [pic 01]

- Razor Blade
- Gauge Wire
- 4 x Male Connectors [pic 02]
- Electricle Tape
- Crimper

You do not need to be in front of your car to do this wiring harness. I did mine right in front of my computer. So I used my webcam to take the pics of the process so you WONT see any pics of the final results when its attached to the car. Sorry, but you will soon enough!

Tools

You can purchase the Gauge wire at your local Kragens/Radio Shack. While you are there make sure you purchase the male connector buy 4 of these. I took a pic of the connector [pic 02] so you know which one to buy exactly. The connector I bought was a 12-10 gauge connector. I dont say you go out and buy the exact same one becuz I think 10 gauge wire is too big already and is hard to bend. If you have S15 headlights you'll notice all the wire is very small, 10 gauge compared to the S15 wires is way too big. Purchase 14 gauge or something. The higher the number the smaller/thinner the wire. Im pretty sure you have a crimper, razor blade and electricle tape around the house. If you dont go out to your local hardware store and buy them. Make sure you have everything in front of you so you save yourself from running around later.

Step 1. [pic 03]

Take your gauge wire you bought at kragens/Radio Shack [where ever] and take your crimper to cut off some plastic at the end. DONT cut thru the wire. Just remove some of the plastic covering. If you look on your crimper you'll see numbers, take your gauge wire and place it in the slot with the same size gauge wire and close and start spinning the crimper then pull out. If you did it right you should have gauge wire and some wiring sticking out. You know what I mean.

Step 2. [pic 04/05]

Take your Male connector and stick it in the end where the wiring is exposed and crimp that sucker [pic 04]. Make sure you squeeze hard becuz you dont want it coming loose. As you can see its squeezed onto the wiring pretty firm [pic 05], thats what you want.

Step 3. [pic 06]

Next take your electricle tape and wrap the ends up. Leave the metal connector exposed tho becuz your gonna need that to plug into the H4 harness. The reason your taping it up is to cover up any exposed wiring that you dont wanna short. Its a safety thing, just do it.

Step 4. [pic 07]

Now, again with the crimp do the same process as in Step 1. You dont have to leave much slack but I guess leave about a ft[?] to be safe. If you already did this than skip this step and Step 5 as well.

Step 5. [pic 08]

Now that you have your wiring seperated from the coil of wires. Repeat the same step you did to expose some wiring. And it should look like mine [pic 08]. REPEAT STEPS 1-5 three more times. Your gonna need a total of 4 wire connectors. 2 for each headlight.

Yes, FINALLY your gonna have to deal with your precious S15 headlights you bought for 600+ bucks off ebay. You notice the wiring on the S15 headlights are so thin. BE VERY CAREFUL at this point becuz your dealing with a very sharp object along with your S15 headlights. Take out your razor blade and start splicing the wires. The two wires you want to splice is the LIGHT GREEN AND BLACK. There are TWO black wires so make sure you splice the LOW BEAM Black wire. Again, BE VERY CAREFUL at this point for One, you dont wanna cut yourself and two, dammit its your S15 headlights!!! The wire on the outside is thin, that means the wires inside the rubber is even thinner. Tt is VERY easy to just cut right thru the wires, and thats a No No. Take your time at this point you dont wanna mess up here. What I did was I took my razor blade and cut along the wire, I made a circle cut, and about an inch or two down the wire I did a circle cut again. Then in between those two cuts I just cut straight down in a line, and easy peeled off the rubber cover. You can see what I mean in pic 10.

Step 7. [pic 11/12]

At this point you should of already spliced both the LIGHT GREEN AND BLACK WIRE. Now that a part of the wire is exposed take one of your wire connectors [pic 08] and wrap it around the exposed S15 wires. Look at pic 11/12.

Step 8. [pic 13/14]

Like in Step 3, wrap up the exposed wires for safety reasons [pic 13]. You dont want them touching each other when they are exposed while your driving. When your finished it should look like mine or even better! Look at pic 14 for Final product.

Step 9. [pic 15]

Well like I stated before, I did this while I was sitting in front of my comp becuz I dont have a Digital Camera but I do have a webcam, and I used that to take pics of this process. But I DID draw a pic for you on how to connect them to your headlights. Take your Finish product out to your car and take the connecter that is wired to the BLACK wiring and plug it into the TOP of the H4 harness plug. Next, take your wire connector that is wired to the LIGHT GREEN wire and plug it up to the RIGHT SIDE of the H4 wiring harness. Right side becuz when I plugged it to the Left side it was not as bright, it looked like only half of the power was being used.

And so there you have it ladies and gents. You have just wired up your S15 headlights for your S14! From this point you can apply this technique to your signals/daytime lights, Im sure you can figure it out. Good Luck with the rest of your install!

BTW....the same method can be used on a 95/96 -> 97/98 front end conversion.

The diagram conflicts with what is written in the last pic. He said "Black goes to top terminal, and green to side", but the diagram shows the opposite....

not to go against what you did...but your wiring skills are a bit less then mediocre...i SERIOUSLY suggest learning to solder, and then soldering those connections so they dont break loose...that's a serious hazard on many levels right there...no offense, kudos on getting the wiring right anyhow!

eh. old writeup. i dont even use that no more since i have HIDs. there are reasons y NOT to solder wires together. one reason is becuz u might want to remove the conversion or watever and take things apart..eventually ur going to have to cut things out and rewire. this way all u have to do is unwrap and its over. my wiring has never failed me yet and ive had the conversion on for a long time already. if u wanna be more safe..use connectors or crimps

ahhhhhh i dont give a damn! i have HIDs! i dont need the writeup no more. the writeup was only basics..i redid my entire wiring to compensate for the HIDs already. and soon..they shall be sold.
