Freed everytime I look at your car I fall in love and realize that all of the mony and headache is worth it.

Btw what rear tire/wheel combo are you using now? Still on z32 rear brakes?

thanks! Now running 15x10 centerlines and 26x10 Hoosier Drag. Downsized the brakes, Z32 front to bring the wheels in a bit, stock rear brakes to fit the 15s

Changing up a bunch of stuff again over the winter, the car has been at least 100hp down on power all season due to boost issues

Yeah makes sense. It hasnt been easy trying to find a 15x10 that will fit with the Z32 rears but I think I found a set that will properly without spacers. I havent even begun to look for skinnies up front that will allow me to clear the 30mm z32 calipers with 12.5" 350z Brembo rotors....should be fun.

Hope the issues get fixed cause I def think your setup has more left in it. Good luck and keep up the good work sir...it inspires some of us to continue our projects.

Another questions, are you still using twin in-tank fuel pumps or have you switch to another setup like a surge tank? I have read about fuel starvation/cavitation issues at times with twin in-tank setups. I have my fuel system parts all laid out now but am considering switching over to a surge tank setup if there are issues with twin in-tanks.

Thanks

They are low impedance. .68A/r On 14.5psi (wastegate spring) in a 100+ degree shop the car did 400whp through a 3500 stall automatic.

I had three different skinnies that cleared my old Brembos, all required spacers. There aren't any off the shelf wheels with that much brake clearance. GTO skinnies will clear with adapters but sit in the fender without a huge spacer. Weld/Centerline will clear with spacers but sit very far out/require lots of camber. You might have slightly more clearance with the Z32 calipers

Also, I wish I went with a 15x9 instead of the 10 in the rear. The 10" barely has enough clearance

I'm running twin Aeromotive 340 pumps in-tank and I have no issues, but I never run the tank very low either.

Sweet - any reason why you chose low over the high impedance?

Thats what FIC offered and i figured i didnt have any reason to go with a bigger injector then 750cc. I have a JDM motor that i ran usdm 550's on for 2 years so i had the resistor box already.

So this weekend i went to start tearing the car again for its annual winter tare down. I started to focus on the water pump. Got down to it and remembered the timing belt needs to come off. So i'm planning on running a Gates Racing Timing belt. Now i'm thinking of doing a new tensioner/pulley.for piece of mind. then i started thinking maybe i should change to a fluidampr crank pulley so i don't have to worry bout it ever. Then i figured i should change the FMS as there is a small leak, Now i'm wondering if i should do a new oil pump and replace the pan gasket and RMS.... how did replacing a waterpump have me pondering pulling a motor for a overhaul.

Hey looking for an ecu for the conversion, i was looking into Megasquirt 3 and was wandering if anyone has run it and how involved was it to get the engine running.

Also has anyone tried running a lsx coils? i heard you can increase your spark distance with a proper tune.

i plan on 2j swappin my S13, i have 3 questions,

#1. is S15 diff the way to go?

#2 i plan on using a sc300/gs300/aristo 2j & precision/garrett gt3582r with quicksilver top mount manifold, do you think the 3582 is too small? i want something that will start spooling at 3k and can hit 550hp and i think the turbo's rated for 600hp.

#3 will i need bigger injectors for 550hp?

#1. What is the purpose of the car? Picking a diff is all personal preference

#2. Turbo should be fine with this.

#3. Yes and no, depends on what you really mean by 550hp. Assuming you are starting out with 440cc or 550cc injectors, You could get close (500-550whp) with 550cc obviously. Read up on the internet about injector size to HP goal calculations.

It's gunna be a daily durring the summer / occasionally drifted / occasionally drag strip & I was assuming the 2j would come with 550cc injectors.

The USDm 2J come with high impedance 550cc's I believe and the Aristo one comes with 440cc's low impedence. if I'm correct all you need to do is buy the USDM Resistor pack from Driftmotion and you should be good to go with USDM 550's. hope this helped
-If you guys have any suggestions on injectors for a JDM 2j please correct me.

I would spend lots of time reading about the 2JZ and all its variants and differences between them before thinking of swapping, much less swapping and upgrading.

Don't do a GT3582R, look at a new Precision 6266 or a 6466 those will hit the 550hp with ease on a GOOD TUNE. and still spool great!

I would go witht something bigger then the usdm 550cc injectors just so you have some room to play so the factory injectors don't get tired

How long have you had your 2j? Assuming you got an aristo engine wouldn't you have done the water pump already anyway?

edit: Ahhh, that was you lol http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sho...ng-timing-belt

You're right, except that 440 is high impedence, and the 550 are low.

The motors been in a car and running for 4+ years, i did the timing belt/water pump when i first started the swap but the bearing in the pump is making a huge amount of noise.

I've got a brand new front half of the water pump if you're interested in it for $45 shipped.
Also if you're gonna tear it down and do the oil pump and stuff, you might as well get a billet oil pump gear so you don't ever have to worry about it breaking.

I would use a 97-01 q45 diff. It has very similar gear ratio to s15 diff and it is easy to find.

I think he wants an S15 Differential because they are helical. Geared differentials (helical) rock.

Yes they are superior in grip, but don't s15 diffs use their own exclusive axles? As if the diff itself is already hard to find, you have to find it with axles too lol.

S15 HLSD's have 30 spline output shafts where S13 and S14 open diffs have 29 spline output shafts. The Axle Bolt pattern is the same Triangle pattern as an S13 or S14.

the boys over at sound performance have a 3.4 high compression 94mm turbo mated to a 6spd. So far it makes 1304whp. So we will have to wait and see in the summer months. But you definitely could say that the freed car is by far the fastest 3L 2j 240 out there
