San Antonio Spurs sit Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili vs Miami Heat; David Stern vows punishment - NBA News | FOX Sports on MSN

Stern vows punishment...really now? As of the start of the 4Q of this game, it's still pretty close and not a blow out. Would be nice if the Spurs actually won without their stars.

If Stern played the schedule the Spurs did, maybe he wouldn't say those things. 4 games in 5 nights on a non lock out season does seem a bit intense. Yes, they're paid to play, but come on.

I can't say that about Stern. He is the reason the sport I love so much is so big in America and around the world. When Stern took over as the commish the NBA Finals were run pre-recorded. The NBA was seen at the level that Hockey is at today. Hell, Stern approved Miami getting their own team even though this is a transient town and is more full of fans of other teams because they move here to escape their shitty weather. Yes Stern is soon to retire but lets not forget who made the NBA what it is today. It wasn't the players...

As far as the fine goes, he was right to do it. That game was 1 of only 2 games being played that night. You could see that there were alot of Spurs fans at the game and they were cheated out of seeing their stars play (they also payed big star money to be at the game). The NBA counts on those big TV spots to make money and even though it's not Pops job to worry about that, his small market Spurs count on those big TV spots to operate in the green every year because of the NBA's rev sharring. So what if the Spurs had to play xx amount of road games in xx nights, Tony Parker and Danny Green are both young. Both of those guys should have played that night. The Heat went through that 2 yrs ago. Hell every year the NBA seems to put the Heat in a huge Westcoast trip (4 games in 5 nights) that always seem to end in Denver (going from West to East) on a back to back night. This year was the first time in 10 years the Nuggets lost one of those games. They were 48-0 before Miami beat them.

Yes the NBA is wrong for the schedule setup but Pop was more wrong for doing such a stupid thing. He could have rested those guys the night before. Plus this is only 16 games into the season. There is no reason for those guys to be tired yet. Also lets keep in mind, if Miami ever did this the whole Basketball world would be on the NBA's side for a fine and asking for the fine to be $2M. The NBA is a Marathon not a sprint, if you can't keep up... Retire...
