![]() All right, this is my first nissan swap and I am runing into some trouble with the WIRING. Any help is greatly appricated. This is an 98 black top s13 sr20det going into an s13 chasis. I have used heavythrottle for most of my sr Q's but the wiring is still a mess! And yes I have searched!
These are the wires and clips I have that need to be changed. The gray plug behind batt>> SR harness has these wires: red blk/wht blk/y y/grn blk blu/red blue/y blk/red Ka has these: red blk/wht grn/y blu/grn grn/blu orn/blu blk/red The brown plug: sr harness has these wires: blk grn/y lt. brn pink/blk grn/red blk/red grn/orn the ka has these: blk/purple lt. brn pink blk/y r/blk grn/orn Now under the dash the ka has a BROWN plug not a WHITE one like on the SR harness. So I know I have to use the other brown clip off the KA motor and splice it onto the sr harness. Once again not all the wires line up. The brown ka clip wire colors are: blk y/grn y/red blu/blk blu/grn orn grn/blk grn/y grn/wht grn red The White sr clip has these colors: 3 Blk wires wht y/grn y/red blu/blk blu/wht orn blu grn/red grn/wht grn/blk grn orn/blk red/wht As You can see they dont exactly line up? I DONT have high speed at the moment so i cant DL the FSM. If someone could just give me the wiring pages or something that would help me out alot since I would love to get this done today. Any help would be great ![]() Thanks Last edited by si2die4; 07-01-2004 at 06:16 PM.. Reason: adding more |

that doesn't make any sense, just down load the FSM for the KA and SR and figure it out.

as for the brown clip...as you sure you're looking at the right clip? my dash harness plug for the sohc KA was different from the SR one for sure...but it was white and skinnier. I cut off the dash plug off the KA harness and spliced it into my SR harness... the colors they talk about on SRswap.com should all be there and work. |

>>>>If your S13 is a newer blacktop ('97/'98), then two additional prongs going into the ECU will have to be switched in order for the engine to fire on all four cylinders. Were can I get more info on this? Thanks |

I still have Q's about the 97's and 98's type x's that suposidly need 2 wires switched at the ecu for all cylenders to fire? And also wonder ing about the 5 gear and reverse wires?? Man where is LUKE91 ???? |

S13 to S13 is easy, just follow that guide on nissan performance or srswap. IIRC the kouki blacktop wiring is the same as all the rest, there shouldn't be any other wiring done than what was said on the guide you found. The lower harness should all work correctly, so you don't need to swap anything from that. Also just because you post a question on a message board doesn't mean people are obligated to help you in anyway, so don't get pissy when nobody helps.

I'm SURE about it, there should be nothing different, nothing major that would prevent your car from running. About your 5spd swap, here is where you should look.
Also if the honda community has been so helpful to you, I would suggest that you stay there.

as far as the ECU stuff...just use the KA brown plug and splice the wires coming from the ECU to matching ones on the plug. There should be 6 wires, or 5 if u have no A/C. Splice one black wire, out of the three coming out from the ECU. Looks like you have no AC, so skip blue/green wire. So now just splice the remaining 5.
1 - Black 2 - blue/black 3 - Orange 4 - yellow/green 5 - yellow/red. The rest of the wires, wrap em in electrical tape and dont worry about them. |

At the ECU I have all these hooked up correctly and the others taped up. 1 - Black to Black 2 - blue/black to blue/black 3 - Orange to orange 4 - yellow/green to yellow/green 5 - yellow/red to yellow/red The problem here is there is no blue/green striped wire on my harness. What else could it be?? The only other wires that go to engine are white and blue/white?? There are more that go to ecu but im not sure if this wire is supposed to come from ecu or engine?? Now problem #2:>>> On my GRAY clip I have: 1 - Black/Red to Black/red AND Blue/red 2 - Red to red 3 - Black to black 4 - green/yellow to green/yellow (from brown clip) 5 - BLUE/GREEN(ka clip) to NOTHING!! Once again there is no wire for AC?? May lose wire options (on SR gray clip) are: Black (Not it) Blue/yellow yellow/green (a larger wire that goes directly to stock SR A/C compressor) This wire is ran through the sr harness from over by MAF and PS wires. I could run one on my own but from were to were? Problem #3:>>> On my BROWN clip I have: 1 - Brown to brown 2 - green/orange to green/orange 3 - black/yellow to black/yellow (from gray clip) 4 - Red/black to ?? 5 - Black/Pink(really purple) to ?? >>>>>>For the last 2 wires I have options: >>> A pinkish red wire with a black stripe (its pretty much completely pink/blk) this was my GUESS for the fuel pump (Black/pink(really purple))BUT NOT SURE and >>> A Black wire with a definitive RED stripe my GUESS for the ECU relay (red/blk) BUT NOT SURE >there is also a Black wire and a green/red wire. I don’t think its them BUT NOT SURE! Problem #4:>>> Tranny Harness -I have the big trany wires connected to complete starter circuit. -I have the Reverse sensor wires (purple and green/white) spliced up to the larger Black and Green wires (on A/T harness side) plugged into the larger gray clip by relays. -I have the speed sensor (yellow/blue and yellow/black), the Yellow (or yellow/white) oil press sender wire, and the white/red alternator wire all connected to the small 4 wire clip on the stock KA front harness wired up to the exact same colors. Q::: I have about the speed sensor is that if the sr speedo is in KPH and were using an MPH cluster, is there a MPH speedo that will work in the SR trany? The Ka one doesn’t fit! -This leaves me with 1 wire left on the Sr tyranny harness and that is the green/orange wire for the NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH. Were does it go?? I have read that it needs to be ran on its own? If so, to witch pin/color on the 98 sr20det type X BLACK TOP ecu?? I have also read of people not hooking it up?? What is the smart/right/better way?? I believe this is all I need to do. Do I have to do any thing with the Automatic Speed Control Device (ASCD) Clutch Cancel Switch? Info HERE That site's wiring is for an s14 I believe witch doesn’t give me the wire pin/colors. Thanks so much for even reading all this. ![]() Thanks Again Quote:

hahaha ... you must earn the wings before you drop the shit from above
keep me post as to when you grasp something mature to sit and soak about Mr... then I'll consider helping out your wire. Oh what the heck, I'll help a little The dash plug is EAZY E The dash side - match all colors that you find. And if you want to hook up the check engine light, it's the orange/black(sr) mated to the red(ka). You'll have some wires with no mate, dont stress, leave them alone, just wrap them up. ![]() hope this helps .. might post more .. maybe |

BTW, you shouldn't need to rewire anything on the tranny harness.
Stock KA 5 spd harness will work w/o doing anything to it ![]() EDIT: Except for slightly enlarging the ground wire hole that goes to the ALT, use a dremel. iirc ![]() |

Well sheiiiit!! If I wanted to go fast in a straight line, I sure as hell wouldn't drive a 240sx. What does it matter if I can hit 12.50 or whatever on the 1/4, it doesn't, what matters is that I can install a sr into a 240 and not have to ask anyone.

when I did my sr (98 s13 sr to 89 240 with auto to manual) I jsut hooked up the entire lower harness from my manual SR clip the plugs without mates are for the auto control box I also used the SR speed sensor (also using SR cluter tho) from prior research I think the sensor in the sr trans may cause it to read off a little but not much otherwise you would not have to recalibrate the km/h speedo to make it display miles (180 mph speedo conversion thread on fresh alloy)
are you keeping A/C on this car or not?
