The S13 I had used for track use only had a S15 differential. However, I had a one piece aluminum driveshaft in that application. I had not used this steel driveshaft.

The current S13, which I daily, has the original open differential. I had used this steel driveshaft, before installing an aluminum driveshaft. This steel driveshaft is from Driveshaftshop. I am able to confirm that this steel driveshaft is long enough to fit an S13 differential without a VSS.

Side note:
In comparison to the current aluminum driveshaft my current S13 has, the steel driveshaft is, in fact, shorter by approximately 1.5 inches (visual estimation). That being said, I suppose this steel driveshaft may be short enough to fit a differential with a VSS. I am uncertain how this would contrast to an S14 application.

Hope I was able to answer your question. I used the word driveshaft ten times, and I started to confuse myself. Haha.
