well luckily mine was not rubbing against it hard, only glancing it but when turning the wheel it scrapped it bad,

it moved the elbow about 3cm, doesnt hit anymore, and even at its worse the elbow and the steering column only come close to about a cm

i was still able to connect my piping without making cuts, only had to pull my piping back a bit for the holes to ling up

ill post photos later tonight

are you having the same problem?

Well my goal is to have an RB in my convertible here pretty soon, and while I wait I am doing as much research as I can, and one thing that concerned me was the steering shaft clearance, however, you figured out an inexpensive yet effective way of solving it, THANK YOU! Which mounts are you using? and I am guessing you need two exhaust turbo gaskets?
