I've searched but i havnt really found what i was looking for. Could any of you guys post pics of black painted headers? Im thinking of painting my head, intake pipe, and headers black. What kind of high temp. paint would you guys reccomend?

Edit: Or should i wrap my headers in heatwrap n possibly paint it?

Yeah, im not really big on shiney chrome or silver stuff, i dono, that kinda stuff just doesnt catch my fancy.

yeah, i would suggest powder coating it black, you could always try the engine heat resistant spray paint, but i don't think it'd come out as clean. You could also try to look into black chrome. it all depends on the different shade and gloss that you want

heat wrap all the way, im planning on wrapping my header in the next few months.... had it done on my old ride, i liked the way it looked, it cools your underhood temp. and gives a no frills under the hood look, ya know?

AlligatorBling - Got any pics of what the heat wrap looked like? Im a super noob to heat wrap, can you install it yourself? If so, how hard is it?

sorry, no pics... but im sure you can find some on the web... its easy to do. you removed the header and have it out to work with freely. take and wet the fiberglass tape in a bucket full of water as you progress in the wrapping of each pipe. use wire twists and needle nose pliers to secure the wrap every 6 inches or so. your hands will itch like a mofo from the fiberglass so i suggest getting some latex gloves to take care of that problem.... after your done wrapping, if your oven is big enough, sit the header in there on a mild temp and let it bake / dry....

I dont think my oven is big enough to fit my header. Will a small blow torch work? I think i still have a little gas left in it.

thats not a have to do kinda thing i wouldnt blow torch it. I have some damn nice header wrap i plan on running really nice and thick. You can paint over it after too if you particularly want, i might just wrap everything and paint it black but i dont know. im also going nuts with the stuff and im gonna wrap my intercooler pipework, clutch slave cylinder, clutch line, and any other misc things that give me funny looks under the hood

i'm not a big fan of the header wrap, i had read that it can lead to rotting out your header ....

anyways yea pc won't withstand the heat like old_s13 said..

i've seen black header wrap , my friend covered his ssauto manifold with it.
