Went to look at a 1995 240SX today...have a few questions...
So me and some people went to go look at a 1995 240SX today, exterior the car was fine...just small rust spots on the lower part of the sideskirts.
No undercarrage rust, little bit on the fender linings. Anyways, there were a few other small problems with the car. Biggest problem I have is that the tranny is REALLY REALLY REALLY notchy, when idle, you need to really use force to basically 'shove' it into 1st gear, then the rest of the gears are fine. When driving though, it requries just as much force to shift into every gear, the seller said it's due to a 'new clutch' but I've never heard of a thing like this. When I got my car it was new, with a new clutch, and it shifts roughly the same as it did new...*shrugs* Is this normal? Other problems is leather is torn on the passenger's side door, the seats have tears, and the shift boot has a rip. the Speedometer is in Kms, but the guy thinks it was a USA car, car fax doesn't even know...but it's been registered in canada since 2000...and it does have KM/h speedo...but I don't know if that's 190000Kms on the car of 190000miles The drivers door seems kinda unaligned, it requires alot of force to close and it kinda feels when you close it it 'lifts' up a bit. The owner is asking $9700 CND which is around $7,394 USD....I honestly think it's too much, with all these small problems and the tranny, the car drives fine, no smoke, no leaks from what I can see, I had 3 other people check it out with me. I like the car, but not sure if I want to spend that much on this car... but yea what would this car be worth? I have a carfax report + pictures if you want, I'd probally have to send over msn/irc or something like that. So basically questions are: Does new clutch = stiff/notchy tranny? Is the door supposed to kinda 'lift' up when closing? $9700 is too much, what should I ask? How can I tell if it was a car from the US or from canada originally? Only other things worth mentioning is it has a loud catback, and a CAI

My brothers 95 S14 has the same tranny problem as far as the 1st gear goes. Sometimes it slips in just fine, but i wouldnt recommend forcing it in, try to double clutch it. Thats how i work with my brothers car. As far as 7k for a 95 S14, your smoking crack if you buy it. I paid 2k for mine, the interior is awsome, has minor dings here n there, some rust.

yea I don't think I'm gonna go for this one. double clutching does shit on this car, I tried triple clutching, you need to seriously FORCE the car into gear, it doesn't grind or anything, but it requires TONS of effort.
