if that helps, coils are BC racing ER type and it's an S14.. ty |

With that said, you should have plenty of room with overs.

how much camber are you running? Camber does help, but at a certain point doesn't it seem senseless to run a 255 tire up front at -5* than say a 235 at -2.5*?
this is on stock metal fenders with just a roll btw |

IDK i think most serious racers (time attack, etc.) use around 4 degrees in the front and 1 or 2 degrees in the rear from what I've seen, but they're on DOT slicks like Advan A048s I think. Since you're on street tires, I'd go with 3 degrees in the front, and 1 or 2 in the rear, but that's just me. You may want less, but if you're going to be tracking a lot, go with -3 or -4.

what PSi do you guys run on streched tires? do you guys go with what side wall recommends or...? I ask cause I was running a 285/30/18 on a 18x12.5(-6) and noticed i was at 20 psi so I went with what tire recommended(50) and now my tire ripped from the inside( I just had an alignment 2 weeks ago) did I fuck up or...?

I run 36psi F/R on my car. That's just what I'm used to so that's what I got on all my cars. when you got an alignment, they should have checked your tire pressure for sure. and it could have been anything that made the tire rip on the inside sidewall. talk to who ever you bought your tire from.

anyway, can you check the manufacture date code on it? it should be 4 digits of numbers. first two state the week of the year, and second two are the last two digits of the year. so for example (2812) would indicate that it's made on the 28th week of 2012. I'm just wondering why the tire has cracked, might be because it's old.

nice rubber, but let's see them on the car? lol

oh and i've always had max psi in stretched tires. The rating on the sidewall is cold psi, so don't put max air pressure after you drive it because the tire heats up and the air inside of it expands. |

So you're running 235s in the front and 315s in the rear? Have fun under steering into a pole I guess?

If it's the setup you plan on running just buy it and do it already. This thread should give more than just a basic idea of what it takes and or looks like.

Yes I have taken the car to three 1/8th mile drag racing events this season and it typically spins the tires for all but the last 20 feet of the 1/8th mile. I can post videos of it if interested. I am doing this setup for max grip. Currently the front end will understeer into corners because the 235 Azenis are horrible and too small, and then if you get on the gas it will oversteer from not enough rubber in the back.

Yes and no. There comes a point where you don't have enough mechanical grip up front with a large stagger offset.

No and 255's on a 10" wide wheel is not considered max tire...

edit: wrong thread I think, posted my question in the actual fitment question thread.. lol.
TLDR was 17x9.5 +17 front doable for max rubber? or would I rather go for 17x8.5 +25 ? thx ^^ Last edited by Skepticism; 09-30-2013 at 12:57 AM.. |

Well a 255 on a 10" rim will perform better than a 255 on a 9" or any other smaller rims, and it's not considered stretched so, what's wrong with that?

Whats wrong is that this is the max tire thread, not the performance tire thread.

Exactly. By our standards and the rules laid out in this thread, a 255 is not max tire for a 10" wide wheel. Neither is a 255 on a 9.5" or anything that resembles the minimum tire section width allowable on a specified rim width.
