I've been drooling over the idea of a Tomei crate motor for quite a while now. However, even if I could afford one, I'm doubtful that it would run with any kind of reliability on crappy California gas.

Wow, that's pretty surprising. Does he run it on race gas or maybe a toulene blend? I just can't imagine a Tomei running on 91.

it's a turbocharged engine. you can simply turn the boost down. also..the tomei engine will run BETTER on lower octane than you standard sr with 1000000000miles on it cause it's built fresh with less restrictions and it's more efficient.
