Does anyone know about Off insect repellent damaging paint? The other day I was spraying myself down with Off cause I live right next to a mosquito infested ditch, and the wind kinda carried the mist over to my car and left all these spots on the hood and fender. I washed the car and even used windex on that area and still can't get em off. Is there any hardcore cleaner or solution to this?

P.S. my car is a mix of mostly primer and some paint with no clearcoat.

I use 600 grit soapy wet sand paper to get all blemishes & bug tar out...I have clear coat though and white paint.

600 is waaaay tooo abrasive to be rubbing on your clear coat. Try something around the 1500+ grit area.

editwhops, nevermind. try around 800.

Damn, do not use any sand paper! Try some denaturated alchol mixed with a little water, try clay bar, try a paint cleaner and polish. If still no go maybe some 2000 grit, but that is still after a wool leveling pad on a rotoray polisher.

Well, at least your car isnt going to get bitten by mosquitoes anymore....

hard to believe we put that stuff on our skin when it can do that to a finish on a car....

ack! you're supposed to wear long sleeves and spray it on your sleeves!

claybar did wonders for my gf's rx7. costs 15$ for mother's kit. try it.

yea claybars are awesome. if you touch your paint after its clean and it has a rough feeling, you should use a claybar. hmm but wait, you should only use it if your car has clearcoat. since your car doesn't, get some sandpaper and take it off.

if my car didn't have so much bodydamage i'd clean it...bleh.

I could be confusing the grit numbers but the sand paper I use feels very smooth you don't feel the grit...all I know is it has a 6 in front. I used it on a model before that's where I got the idea from. It leaves my car brand new.

Yeah I'll try wet sanding it one of these days. If it leaves some scratches I have leftover paint anyway.
What I really should do is call the town and tell em to treat or fill in the damn ditch next to my house. It's really a pain in the ass.
