Hey guys, when I first test drove my car before buying it, it was fine other than a slight crunch when quick shifting. The car is not road registered at the moment so has been sitting for about 3 weeks in the driveway and I decided to take it out the other day around the block. It selected reverse and first fine (car was warmed up) then I took it around the block three times, all three times the car would not let me into second gear and I had to pull really hard and it would crunch all the way in (bad idea I know) when coming to a stop and putting the clutch all the way in the car stalls, I'd start the car try go into first and it wouldn't let me yet when I first turned it on it selected first and reverse fine. After waiting 10 seconds it let engage first and I put it back in the driveway. (I know the stalling issue can either be the clutch still being engaged while my foot was all the way down but the car could also have a very dirty IAVC, also it runs very very rich as it needs a tune) what could be the possible causes for this?

-OS giken twin plate

Easiest thing to do would be to change the tranny fluid, check for leaks at the tranny, slave & master cyls & lines, bleed the system (maybe replace the clutch fluid)... then check/adjust the pedal travel, inspect the pedal bracket and check/adjust the pushrod travel behind the MC... If all that is good, there is a good chance the clutch needs to rebuilt. Either way, if everything external seems fine, the tranny needs to come out for a closer look.

Aside from that, your tranny sychro ring(s) could be cooked- which in this case can be a good (lesser of two evils) thing... assuming you'd rather replace an SR tranny for 100-200 bucks vs. spend $1K rebuilding that clutch
