lock actuator

so my passenger door lock actuator is messed up, i cant even unlock the door by pulling up on the lock mechanism inside the door.
its basically welded shut. so my idea is the take the passenger rear quarter interior trim off and drill the screws holding the door latch out so i can open the door. do you guys think ill have enough room to do that, or do you have any other ideas?

Take it off and take a look. The trim would take less time to get off then it would to make this post and wait for someone to reply back 10hrs later.

was hoping somebody had done it before and might be able to tell me yay or nay before i get outside in sub freezing temps a do it ....BITCH

It sounds more like the door latch that's messed up. Trying to drill the screws out will be very difficult. I would try to get the doorpanel loose and try to open the door manually. It's probably just a clip that broke and the rod that actually opens the latch is no longer connected. Any way you look at it it's going to be a bitch.

SPEAKING OF WHICH...

If you're going to post a thread and ask for advice it is best to not fly off the handle and call people names. There was NOTHING particularly offensive about zerodameaon's post and you were COMPLETELY out of line. His point was simply that if you've got the mental capacity to come up with the solution you proposed in the OP, then perhaps your time would be better spent working on the car and figuring out the problem than posting a thread looking for some magical solution. There is NO magical easy solution. Your issue is NOT a common issue. You're going to have to figure it out on your own...

Its all good. As for my advice I would do as racepar suggested, do every last thing you can on the door side because if you break something there the door can always be replaced. If you screw something up inside the QP its a lot harder to fix. Do you have the door trim off? if so start with PB Blaster and spray the locking/latching assembly down with the stuff. Try to also get some down in between the door and the B pillar area where the latch is at as long as it does not eat paint(wouldn't know haven't sprayed it on paint.)

Is this a S14? If so there are a few threads on this common problem.

Yes it is an s14. I've seen that thread but they never come to a conclusion. I had a locksmith look at it but he couldnt get it undone either

I hope you can get it figured out without having to take the drastic measures others have. Frank brings up a good point, if its only the cold wait till it warms up then take it all apart and oil it all up. There is a thread on another site about fixing door issues on other Nissan chassis of the same years. They are all pretty similar so it might work.

well i got the door opened, it took a little drilling, but nothing a few filler welds and some paint wont cover. im thinking about doing a write up but idk since its not a common problem.

so far i think i might be the only one to have found out a solution, i even called the nissan dealership and they suggested i break the door panel. lol

Do a write up on it anyways if you would, if it was something to do with the locking rods being frozen in place its pretty common and there is no real info beyond break the door panel or cut the skin off your door. It really sounds like your method is pretty low impact vs the other ones.
