changing cap and rotor

so i feel like i should take off the battery cable before replacing this part but my shit is stuck. it was loose before and i took my car to a battery place and they added a shim and tightened the F*** out of it. and my bolt is practically strippd so a screwdriver cant loosen it and a socket wont fit on it. im speaking of my negative battery cable btw. SO should i just go ahead and replace or find someway to get that damn cable off?

Not necessary. but you could just take the positive off if your that paranoid. But as for taking it off try vice grips... or hitting it with a punch to try to get it to twist.

Better to take the time and fix your terminal now at home than on the side of the road somewhere. Then disconnect your negative cable and do it better than doing it and somebody accidentally turns the ignition.switch and you get a bad day. GL

You can always try spraying some WD40 or some sort of lubricant and the terminal should slide right off. I don't see why you can't just take a 10mm or 12mm to the nut though.

Patience is key; don't rush things and think before you act. Save the headache
