i went from a mainly stock SR to one with most of tomei's bolt ons, ARMS turbo, tubular mani, poncams, reytec standalone etc and it sounds similar to the one in the vid. the change in pitch is definitely more high-strung with a bigger turbo and tubular manifold. my personal experience, i noticed the exhaust had little to do with changing sound, i had a straight pipe for both stock sr and the tomei bolt ons.
the tomei/power fc/most standalones rev cut is also muuuch faster of a cut. this video best describes it. (i have the engine in the grey coupe with popups and a kit, not me driving in this) and the other/first car has an s15 sr with factory ecu and you will notice the difference.

i have a friend also with a 2.2 stroker with similar mods and it sounds the same, way more high pitch and high strung mid range once the turbo and cams kick in.

personally, i love the sound of SR's
