completely false you can make plenty, even 450rwhp or more with an internal gate, there is no horsepower limit. Depends on the turbocharger in question and exhaust side among other things.

A gate is a gate, just a hole for exhaust to move through. If it is large enough and designed right, even if too small, you can compensate with engine configuration such as camshaft exhaust valve closing points (camshaft gear timing can assist your goals) but again, horrible idea on an SR20 because of the fact you need to remove the valvecover to modify camshaft setting, AS WELL as the looming crunch if the gears let loose.
