s13 3 year old fuel , and a corroded ass fuel pump assembly.

Hello friendly forum members!

I already know what to do for my fuel tank, but my fuel pump assembly (the part that holds the floater and fuel pump itself) is corroded to shit. It's still shows metal if i scrap off enough surface rust.

My original idea was to take out the pump and dip the whole thing in CRL or some kind of rust remover. I wanted to hear your guys take on that idea, also there is a fourth wire excluding the floater and fuel pump wire. It looks like a fuel compensator(aircraft technician guess ) , I am about to go on the FSM and look at the wiring diagram- anyways it's broken off of its barrel on the top but is still good on the inside, any idea what this is? Thank guys.

Take the easy route. Just buy another one. I'm sure someone who is parting their car out will sell you one for under $30. Save yourself the labor and the questionable nature of a possibly degraded part if it's really that gunky.

x2

unless you're seriously looking for the gratification of cleaning it off yourself. Just take the safe way out and buy a new one. or "new to you"
