s13 Hybrid swap questions

Ok I have two motors sitting in the garage 1993 Nissan VG30DETT Clip and
an Infiniti VH41 V8. They are clean and great condition especially the V8 its pristine I yanked it out of a car that had a little over 13K. I got everything out of the engine bay. Now I want it know if I am better off sticking in the VG30 or VH41? Don't bother telling me to go SR20, KAT, RB20/25/26 or anything like that. Reasong being I want to be different and don't really feel like being like every one else. So the question I pose is that what transmission can I also use with the V8 because I want a manual transmission not an auto. Plus I will be using this car as a drift car and figure the weight difference is negligible for the torque and power that I will gain compared to the KA. Thanks a bunch. Oh yeah its 93 s13 Coupe.

I know the VG30 fits in a S14. May fit a S13.

I would start test fiting everything to make sure it works.

i would definately rock the vg. have fun shoe-horning it in though. i dont really understand going through all that just to be different, but to torque.

you are better off going with the vg BUT it would be WAY more badass to see the vh shoved in an s13. as far as a manual transmissions there would have to be alot of custom work for you to have a manual in the vh. custom bellhousing and whatever you could find to work on there.

for originality i would go with the vh because ive seen a few vg's in s14s at least and some z31 motors in s13s.

lastly, good luck drifting that car with either of those motors in them. how much does the vh41 weigh?!?

still good to see someone trying something new. good luck.

Whoa!! Deja vu!
That sounds like 99% of all the other newcomers to Zilvia!
Whatever motor you choose, you'd better have either alot of money to throw at it, or alot of experience in fabrication. Or both.

There IS a reason more people go with SR/CA/RB.

Yeah, someone in either Australia or NZ did that...

The VH is actually pretty small, someone in Japan put one into an S30 Fairlady Z. Gorgeous car... I think it bolts up to VG manual transmissions too.

Not to be a jerk. But u said no RB 20 25 26, how abour RB 30. Ppl say it wont fit in a s13 but it does. just need a different hood. And u get gobs of low end hp and tq. Cheaper too.

mikespeed: dunno where i saw it, maybe on FA? maybe here?

240sxconversion: RB30E is a waste of time, UNLESS you have gobs of money to throw at it with RB26 head, 25 manifold, etc etc. Sure it's got tons of torque but it's an old motor with zero aftermarket support.

Can you say understeer?
There is a reason no one does those swaps. A Vg is bad enough when it is in a z. Plus VGs allways have somthing go wrong. Too much crap in those motors. You know the sayin, whatever can go wrong will go wrong? Well with a VG there is alot more crap to go wrong.

VG motors are also fat pigs. It will destroy the cars handling, and will not be any fun to work on. That is just my opinion after having built many z cars. Im not sure about the v8 but either motor would be cool to see in the s chassis.
Just really wouldnt be worth your time.

It would be cool to see that v8 motor in a 240z though.

Good luck, and hope my opinion does not rub you the wrong way.

the vg may be heavy, but it could sit back farther int he engine bay than the stock ka!!! giving possibly better balance

You would have to put the vg where the driver is, to make up the weight difference. A VG with turbos, manifolds, harness, dps, and tranny is around 900 lbs.

Understeer....

take what blu808 says into consideration......... he put a lot of time into his z....... he knows. As should I, I put tons of time in on it too. I say nay on the VG. Humungous, and something always breaks.
