S14 Zenki headlight/wiring/fuse issue
So the other day when I turned on my headlights (low beam) I noticed that my high beam indicator was barley illuminated. I jumped out and checked my lights and my driver side headlight turned an amber color and lost all brightness, I check my fuse and sure enough it popped so I replaced it. But the lights strength still stayed the same. Under a more thorough investigation the fuse for my driver side headlight looked "melted" also the pigtail for my low beam was also "melted". The issue is only with my low beam, high beam is perfectly fine. Before I tare apart my harness running to my headlight looking for a bare wire or a grounded power wire has anyone experienced this before if so how do I resolve this issue? Thanks for any input!
Here are some photos showing what I have just described, I would show you my headlight plug but don't feel like taking my cooling panel off at this time. Hard to notice but my high beam light is dimly lit. ![]() ![]() Fuse is melted. (in-between the 10 and 20 fuse is the driver side fuse I pulled, you can see at the top metal section the plastic is melted) ![]() But the actual fuse is not blown. ![]() Last edited by quantum-kid; 10-06-2014 at 12:22 AM.. |

I'm experiencing something similar. At first one of my headlights would fail to come on when I turned them on, but would fix it self if I smacked it. Then that stopped working and eventually neither of them would flick on but my corner lights, blinkers, and se fogs still worked. Weird part is just the passenger headlight will illuminate when I turn the "brights" on. 95 zenki.
I feel like something melted. Haven't checked fuses, don't know my sh*t about headlights.

What wattage bulbs are you running? Check your grounds and you are going to have to find the "short". Check your driver's side harness if you're low.

And for OP, is that the right sized fuse for the circuit? I'd check that. If it's a fuse that's too big, you could have burnt a wire. |
