get a second diff. Use the open diff during the rainy season and the welded diff when you want to slid. I have a welded diff and you slip around most turns, especially when you dont want to. And you will understeer like mad, low speed included. In the dry, I love my welded diff. Just be careful with one in the rain. It's stil tolerable tho.

About the understeer thing...when you have both back tires trying to push the car straight, it makes it hard to change direction.

Now, give it gas to power through, and it oversteers because the inside tire is going slower and it breaks loose.

So it is dangerous in the rain. It's *mostly* controllable, but can be scary.

There's a reason LSDs were invented...and it's safety.

If you have one welded, I'd have a spare...everyone's level of "craziness" is different...a bunch of guys on here may say you're a puss or not "hardcore" enough...that's BS, they're idiots. Sliding around is great fun, but not with your girl in the car on a rainy afternoon on the way to the grocery store...that's just stupid and dangerous.

here is an idea.

DON'T DRIVE LIKE AN IDIOT WHEN IT RAINS.

i drive slow as hell now that it has begun raining. people get pissed at me, but i don't care. no need to speed and wreck my car or somebody else's car.

Good idea. Though, it'd be a better idea to not use a welded diff or spool on the street to begin with. I ask again, is this 1950? Are we building dirt circle track cars or what?

rainier, my buddy can weld ur diff, and you can count on his welds not breaking. i'll ask him how much it'll cost, most likely not much more than the cost of the gas and the wire

I just drove in my friend's 240 w/ welded diff the other day in the rain. The understeer was kind of bad until you tapped the throttle and slid the rear end out without really even trying.

Open diff just spins the one wheel that gets the least amount of grip.
