Bought this nasty set of 16x9.5 +32 ARE 398 wheels on Craigslist recently. They had at least three layers of spray paint on them. Terrible.



I took them apart, stripped everything to bare aluminum, had the faces redrilled from 5x4.75 to 5x4.5, repainted the faces a dark metallic grey, cleaned the bolts with a few rounds of aircraft stripper, and refinished the lips with wetsanding polishing. They came out nicely.






Oh, by the way, I know this thread tends to be anti-ebay, buuuuuuuuuut I just came across these today.

They turned out pretty good. I'm not actually going to use them on this car though since they each take about 65mm worth of spacers to sit flush, haha. Not sure what I'm going to do with them.

They're bbs style 5, 16x8 +0, (the 5x120 to 5x114.3 adapter is 20mm), I'm on 195/45 tires, spl rucas in the rear to get as close to zero camber as possible, which made them a little more flush than they'd normally be.

I've been so on the fence with paint. I dunno haha. Gold may not be aggressive enough for future plans.

Thanks, it's not my ideal set up, but it was what came on the ZX wheels and they have a TON of tread left. So, sadly it is what it is... for now...

...so with Jesse Streeter on holiday leave and my other overseas connections currently not in-country (Japan) I'm forced to ask: Where do you go to shop smaller diameter wheels? They seldom pop up here and if it isn't 18" and ill-fitting then I can't find shit in SoCal. I had a line on some TE37Vs from a wheel service in Australia that's no longer responding to my messages...pretty bummed about that.

15x10 -25 as of right now it needs a bit more pull in the front because its sitting on tire and the car wont move at all LOL and i plan to run it square i just need to see if i can fit them in the rear with the fender work i have planned if not im chopping the fenders out for overs i have laying around and thank you! its been a year since this car has touched the ground

ummmm i know gtr garage can import for you but i think their rates are kinda high just check it out

Yeah man the bronze ones! I was IMing him on Facebook about the set of 15x8+0 Gunmetal/DC Lip ones he (to my knowledge) hasn't listed yet and he gave me a price. Now that I'm ready to go he's been reading my messages but not responding. I'm sure he's busy given the time of year but I'm trying to get a 'yes' or 'no' out of him so I can proceed accordingly. The Watanabe R-Types that are listed on here are my second choice. I'm waiting for PayPal to unlock my account.

I might just buy some AME/Fatlace FZERO2s locally if this trend keeps up. Parting out my FRS and selling/shipping parts has turned me off to all of it for a while. I want to get the TEs or the Wats but at this point I'm fucking ready for a quick fix. I know that the idea of the Fatlace wheels is 'meh' but AME is awesome. The TM02s I had were light as shit.

Yeah Jesse Streeter and jdmwheels.com.au are the best places to go price-wise. That's why I was sticking to them. I have buddies in Japan but they can't read enough Japanese to work YAJ. Fuck my life, right?
