no one wants another 240sx... we want a Silvia/180sx successor. the 240sx doesnt even register as a viable sports car in most peoples eyes. the KA was a joke and its probably the biggest reason the S-Chassis was so underplayed in this country. damn near every magazine that reviewed the S13/S14 ALWAYS said the same things "the car handles like a dream, but feels very under powered, almost like it was built for a much more stout motor"

well, the reviewers werent far off the from the truth. too bad most reviews likened the car as a successor the 240z because of the stupid displacement figures.

so yeah, NO TURBO! NO CARE! (to borrow from simmode1)

^Agreed.

I have 0 interest in buying another car I have to swap or immediately spend thousands trying to boost. Hell I have not even swapped my 240sx yet.

Yep. If they had done that & sold it at the same price it is now, I would have bought one. Even if it was a little detuned, that would have been perfection & then worthy of being called a Silvia replacement. I'd be ranting & raving all about it then.

Exactly I have said this before I will say it again. I want a car with enough power that I am not even thinking of doing an engine swap just to bring it up to par.

Oh and yes a FRS/BRZ with a turbo would have made it that car. Except contrary to what Corbic thinks they really are not well made either.

It HAS to happen to save the 86, imo.
The thing is, the car currently cost a couple grand too much, they need to turbo it and keep it at its current price imo.

That is interesting, the 3 owners I personally know (2 of which drift theirs) are 21 (BRZ), 24 (FRS), and 25 (FRS).

Don't be putting words in my mouth. I challenged you on the notion that the engines will seize at 60k miles.

I fully acknowledge the crappy paint, scratch-prone glass and chintzy interiors. As I said before, you want cheap, light and modern DOT standards - pick two.

Toybaru cut corners every where they could to save weight and cost.

You want a light luxury sports coupe? Buy a used Cayman for $27k.

My automotive world cares end when the 981's are under $30k.

Actually, only one of those dudes makes payments - and he makes good money.

The other two are fully paid, one of those kids is mommy and daddy money though, admittedly - and he isn't the one who slides. I mean, well, he says he "drifts" but I digress.

The other 2 I know for a fact do.

Agreed. I think we're all "aging out". My enjoyment comes from driving cars, not being pissed off and frustrated because their broke or I'm waiting on the holy trinity.

Holy Trinity: time, money and motivation. Sometimes we're motivated and have time but don't have the cash for the projects. Other times we're motivated and have cash but are to busy with other things. Rare is it when an enthusiast had all three.

Nissan bought 90 seconds airtime for the Super Bowl. IMO, I think we'll see a small reveal of the next Z.

I mean, I would love it if they used it for a Z announcement. But we know they're focused on their volume movers. I'm betting they use that time to push their cash cow, not their niche car. Hell, I can't even remember the last time I saw a Z or GTR advertisment on TV. Just Altimas drifting and snowboarding all over the place... WTF.

Well I was not putting words in your mouth go back and read your generalized statement or even my generalized statement. In relation to their crappiness I posted the fact that an engine had come back seized under warranty from non ultra abusive conditions.
So maybe you should not put words in my mouth as I never said all the engines will seize at 60k lol

Pulled directly from their site...

"We recognize the difficult task of balancing work and life for families everywhere. That’s why our #withdad campaign brings this very real struggle to life. #withdad is a celebration of and inspiration for dads who find innovative and exciting ways to make life better for their kids and families.
Check back between now and Sunday, February 1st to see more #withdad videos. And, come back after the big game on Sunday to see our commercial and more incredible #withdad content."

Highly doubt it's any sort of reveal... just a viral marketing pitch for the brand.

Also. what's with all the BRZ/FR-S hate on this site? Sure, everyone would like to see it coming with a turbo, but it's literally the second coming of the S-chassis. Pretty much the same weight, very similar MacPherson struts front/multi-link rear suspension design and a wider track and longer wheelbase than an S14 (which itself has the widest track and longest wheelbase of the S cars), yet MORE agile than an S13 or S15 with quicker, tighter steering (one of the best steering feels in any new car under $50k-$60k), more stability, and all-around better handling, in general, than any of them.

Sure, it's a lot of money compared to what you can get a used 240sx for now, but the 240 is old as hell. If you compare the new price of an S14 when it was first released to the price of a base FR-S and take inflation into account, it's not in any way, shape, or form an "expensive" car. It's only expensive to people who only buy 20 year old used cars.

And what's with all the Mustang, Z, Genesis worship? Especially the Genesis.... that thing is a boat. This is literally the only forum other than the Genesis forum where I've seen people have anything positive to say about the Genesis...
