well, change coolant, change oil, check all fluid levels, put 2-5 drops of oil in each cylinder and crank engine without spark plugs in so cylinder walls are lubes along with rings.

Check this guy's webpage out...he lists a lot of good info..he stored his 240 for 3 years!! If you didn't drop any fuel stabilizer in the gas tank before you let it sit, then you might want to drop & drain the gas tank of all that fuel that is sitting in there now. The attached page gives an explanation of how gasoline deteriorates: http://www.chevron.com/prodserv/fuel...etecting.shtml You might want to drain, flush & refill all your other fluids for that same reason also: deterioration & contamination. And if you didn't jack your car up & put it on jackstands, check your tires / sidewall areas for cracking. The rubber in the tires will break down and start to crack/deteriorate when left sitting in one position for any lenghty period of time. Anyhow, hope this helps...Good luck!! ID |

yea like what he said^ l
for instance if you store the car in a garage for the winter. is there anything you need to do when bringing it back out of the garage once summer rolls around? |

Thanks for the promo, Idlafie......
![]() If your car only sits during winter, a good change of basic fluids will do. No need to get to go deep into a complex operation. Fuel stabilizer, coolant, oil if is a long winter, put up in jacks. The 24E/DE engines are bullet proof, I had a chance to open my engine no too long ago, and there was no sign of any problems, only a little rusty on the coolant channels. In need of a good coolant flush, I did one but I guess it need it a few more....But know is clean and back to normal....Also if you care about your battery, either start the car every now and then or take out and connect it to a battery charger, I used the little ones (motorcycles) and it work fine, they apply a trickle charge just enough to keep it alive.......... |
