I'm not saying you can't modify them to better them. I'm saying they are decent as is when not worn out.
For all the work of changing from a three link to something better in a solid axle car an s chassis would have new knuckles and a tube stock subframe with revised pickup points. The difficulty and knowledge is orders of magnitude different.

It's simply almost impossible to compete with these new cars with our old ass nissans without building a track car or dumping tons of money into..most likely both. I remember reading an article when the 370z came out and they track tested a STOCK 370z to a caged 350z and said the 370z's chassis was more rigid. The 350z is lightyears away from the s-chassis in terms of chassis development and the 370z is better even in stock form really speaks to how much better chassis design is with each model. With that being said I love my s14 not for it's superior chassis, but it's simplicity and overall connection you feel with the road. These new cars make me feel like I'm driving an M1 abrams with the lower visibility, high dash board, high door line, etc. |

I totally get what you're saying and lets not forget that we're all here because we simply love this chassis.
Different cars will show its own identity. Type R integra - Fun to drive, hugs the corners nicely, but lets face it, it's fwd. So that 'limits' the things you can do with it. S14 - Heavy mama, but when built right and make you giggle like a boy seeing tits for the first time.... Evo - Do I really need to explain.....lol

I think we all are fighting got the same point. I'm just at a different point. I don't need to do much to my car to have a great time at the track and that's what I wanted. No engine swaps. No crazy suspension mods. Just a basically stock Z33 that makes enough power and gets around turns a lot better then a 240 will without a ton of money
And I can drive it to the mall on the weekends cause it's a full street car. Not a gutted 240 with a cage and reliability problems |

My E36 M3 is one of the few factory cars that 17 years down the road hold its own against newer models in the handling department. Not saying a 240 won't it's just at a complete sacrifice of comfort and drivability(unless you use Koni's hehehe) for the most part. Nissan has always don well to refine chassis and suspension design better and make the newer cars outperform the older ones. Most car manufacturers do . Yet of course sometimes at a cost, price wise, weight wise, in BMW's case too much electronics and whatnot. All said and done not to many sub 30k options. Come on Nissan grow some balls again.

I honestly think the 350 is going to be the last drivers car Nissan makes. The new ones have too many computers
And idk about you guys but driving a 370 is like driving a video game. Too many electronic assist. Not enough hydronic feels Closest thing I got to the experience in the Z is the FRS, but it's too damn slow and that brings my main point. Not fast enough without tons of money and maybe a engine swap. I mean in reality it'll probably put down simular times cause it takes turns so well......but when I want to put my foot down I need some balls Last point. After going to the track I understand why street car builds usually push so much power. On the track my sub 300 WHP is definitely enough and I can say it actually over works my brakes and diff on the Z. But after being on the track I drive the Z even less on the weekends cause it's just not fun. On the street it's way too damn slow. Kind of backwards no? I've came to realize after pushing the car so hard driving on the street is not really enjoyable because ofor laws and driving straight is not fun unless you have a ton of HP but then that comes unsafe fighting the car to get down the line. All in all I bought the 350 to specifically be a track car/weekend toy and I'm 100% satisfied with it Lastly....VLSD blow. It used to do all right to slide a little or take off but after 80 hard miles on track it's just as open as the J30 VLSD I swapped into my old S13. I will hopefully be upgrading to a quaife diff upgrade after my Southbend clutch kit. |

I've been patiently waiting for any information regarding the drivetrain specs on the IDS. The trunk area appears large enough to house a rear drivetrain but who knows. The front wheels will obviously be powered but a pair of wire cutters should remedy that. Good looking car anyway. The controls seemed designed for an "enthusiast" driver.

The Z HAS to get announced this year. It's just sooooooo long in the tooth at this point it's laughable. The Genesis G70 Coupe will debut this year and the Z will be virtually irrelevant.

Let's face it, the last time Nissan showed anything that got us excited in the pants was the IDX and its dead dead. Before that...was the debut of the 350 and the GTR. The 370 is a better car but it was just too similar in performance to really make a difference. Since the IDX Nissan has actually went further and further away from anything that most of us care about. Hell, as much as I liked my '14 Pathfinder when I got it, it sure got dated quick. The industry is just booming right now (mostly in the CUV segments), Nissan is doing great. This is EXACTLY when they should be going big. You can afford to lose some $ on cars that don't sell as well but help you sell other cars.

Not to mention they could partner with a company like Greddy , Tomei or HKS and grow the Nismo brand. Imagine, Nismo exhausts, FMIC, turbos strut bars, wheels, aero, tunes, all from the dealer. Who wouldn't like to buy a car. Take it to the dealer, get a fmic, exhaust, and tune, increase their HP by 20-50Hp drive out and it be covered all under warranty? GM did it with their turbo upgrades to their trucks so we know its possible. I just don't see it happening with Ghosn at the reins and Palmer gone.

Nissan wants to compete with Honda and Toyota. They want trendy hip cars for urban dwellers. Just watch any of their commercials. Japan as a whole is no longer into cars like they where in the 80's and 90's. Culturally, economically, it all came to a grinding halt in 2008 after slowing down in 2001. Look at the tuning companies even... They have done nothing for years!!! For example, Apexi Power FC is ancient and I don't think it's supported a new car since 2001. Suspension, fab parts, everything is Domestic or Chinese these days. Tomei kinda tries.... Cobb basically owns the tuning market... Oh well. I'm not going to loose sleep over it. The IDX was stupid as fuck. We don't need a another god damn Mini Cooper or Fiat 500. |

Oh trust me I know. I get my Pathfinder washed at the Issan dealer every other week or so and I'm either falling asleep looking at everything or fighting my gag reflex at the newest clown colored Juke. I usually take pictures of the Jukes because they look like they are from a line of Girbaud Jeans from the 90's.

Who knows if the gas prices MIGHT change things because if I remember correctly, all the hybrid hype was during the time of the gas price going no where but up.
Now that it's coming back down to a reasonable price, car manufactures 'might' take a chance and make a 'low lever performance tuner car'.

thats because the PowerFC was predominantly developed for OBD1 and early OBD2 cars. OBD2 ECUs now are basically stand alones in themselves and dont require replacing at all. my bosses G8 makes around 600hp and is a mid level build (including upgraded tranny). the car retains a stock motor AND tranny ECU, theyre both just tuned like crazy. the days of needing stand alone ECUs, for the most part, is gone.

Yes, and it was companies like Cobb, Bama etc (i.e. American) that capitalized on that. The dinosaurs like Apexi, Greddy and HKS never released new products. |

I know that and that is 100% true, but that is why I said that they might take a chance. Look at Toyota and Subaru, they took a chance with the brz and frs. So know knows, Nissan MIGHT.

That is one argument. Kids these days just want Xboxs, iPhones and Facebook. The domestics launched an onslaught of super cars from ZL1s to GT350s, but I'm curious if it's just that old-guard buying them. |
