anyone have a white fastback with a painted black roof. if so post your pictues and how and what you used to paint it. im interested in doing this myself and need some ideas of how it looks and what to do.

mine's not white, but i painted the roof of my red one. here's how

removed hatch
removed sunroof
masked sunroof hole from inside
skuffed up the paint with 100 grit
tacked up dust from sanding
masked windshield and upper window trim
covered interior exposed from lack of hatch
primered
let dry
primered
let dry
painted
let dry
wet sanded with 600 grit
dried and tacked
painted
let dry
wet sanded with 1000 grit
dried and tacked
painted
let dry
wet sanded with 1500 grit
wet sanded with 2000 grit
let dry
wait a week
hit with rubbing compound
wax

thats not me, but thats my 240sx.. i did the paint job june 4th of 2004. right before i grad! job came out way better than expected. the paint is white with blue icy metalic. very nice at night. the process to pait the whole car.... took for ever.

hey man, i know you asked for a white car with a black roof. last spring i painted my car red and decided to paint the roof black. if you click on my '89 240sx link below there are plenty of pics of the red car with black roof.

heres a few.
one of my friends paints, and hooked me up. removed sunroof, but left hatch on (he has a sweet gun and can direct paint into tiny cracks) also just did a base/clear with no wetsanding and it looks like glass, but the dude is a bad ass painter. when i polish it its hard to tell where the windows stop and the roof starts.

I'm considering making my Coupe a Black Roof. I know most people think it only looks good on FB's, but I think, if done right, it looks good on the coupe as well.

Heres my white faastback with the roof that i painted black. only thing is that i painted it black on mspaint. whatever, still black to me, aaaand i didnt have to ask other people to help me with a super easy question. I mean shit, i wish zilvia had a picture gallery too or something where i could look at a whole bunch of pictures of the 240, that would be cool too.

I'm considering having my roof painted black when it gets new paint as well. I have a white fastback also.

My question is, do you think the black roof will look as good without tint? Every black roof I've seen on a white hatch has tint to give a darker appearance to the entire top of the car.

I'll have no tint on my car at all, so do you think it will look as good? Or should I just paint it white to match the rest of the car?

when i got my car painted, my windows were not tinted, i thought that it still looked good with the black roof without tinted windows but i find its much nicer with tinted windows.

you misunderstand, kiddo, i'm dead serious. i think that if you have enough sense to know that a pink roof is retarded it'd be only logical to assume that BLACK would look hot. ya know, since just about every fastback that's been repainted that i've ever seen has a black roof i'd say your case is weak at best. in fact, i've never seen any sports car look stupid cause it has a black roof.

i'm "bustin" on you cause you asked the 240SX equivilent of "what color is the sky?" which has dick to do with post count. it wouldn't be such a stupid question if the answers weren't in such great abundance.

p.s. i've made threads wtih these EXACT same photos before.
