The confederate flag means different things to different people. Just because one person views it as a symbol of racism doesn't mean everyone does or should or have to. If you don't like someone else waiving the flag, then you're the one with the problem. If they're racist let them be a dumb racist. BTW, the controversy over the confederate flag is no different than the controversy behind calling white people 'crackers'. Prejudice and offensive? yes. Do all people see it that way? no. Should people HAVE to view it as prejudice and offensive? no. If you don't like what someone says or does in the USA, chances are you have the privilege of ignoring it in this day and age. Also, those brietbart articles weren't really racist. Somewhat ignorant and loud for clickbait, sure. But it's a news media outlet like all the others. Just caters to a different demographic. They're all always saying ignorant shit to stir the masses. |

There are plenty of ways you can ignore situations that are mostly dramatized today relative to history. And by privilege I mean, many American people walk around talking about how oppressed they are, but have never experienced what oppression actually is. That is distinctly an American privilege. All race or any other distinguishing characteristic aside. |

Actually I do. The "extreme" Global Poverty Line was increased in 2015 to $1.90 per day. Let that fucking sink in. 740 million people live in extreme poverty. There are 740 million people living off less then a $1.90 a day... and our "poverty stricken disadvantaged" people are crying they want $20 per hour. In one day, they'd have made more money then 740 million people make in 6 months. Our poor are Dan Bilzerians to the rest of the worlds poor. We have 47 million "poor", (15% of the population) These are people that make less then $24,000 a year. |
