i cant fit any socket over it because half of the lugnut cracked off, so basiccally its like a half circle where you putthe key in...i see no other choice but to drill

Well if its broken off use some channellock to try to get it off or even better get the kind that lock so that way theyl stay on the nut, get a pipe,big enough to fit over the plyers, and undo it that way.
