S15s are 100% federally illegal. 100% plain and simple. They're not 25 years old AND the don't qualify for show and display. States don't have laws for this. This is why they're "state legal". Ask this dude. http://jalopnik.com/how-an-imported-...ars-1684706334 |

Lmao I love when people believe shit that other random people write.
They got 3 things to go by and they swear by it, that red r33 crushed, that link and the other link that states how they bring over grey markets and title them, which is actually fucking inaccurate because most of the cars around here are not titled like that nor brought in like that, maybe thats how they did it years ago but now its different. @Gremo I couldnt agree more, they stop posting all these blogs made by haters, and start posting government news, links, shit Ill even take some CNN shit over that, fuck it ill even open up to yahoo news lol. I have a friend here locally, hes in his late 40s, hes owned his S15, R34, Aristo and MK4 supra for 10+ years (all different amounts of time but hes had grey markets for over 10 years) I also know many people with claims on grey markets and paid out full no questions asked, and many other people in other states with these cars, someone on here has a S15 in CALIFORNIA LOL, DAILYING IT. @patjza Nobody here is saying they're federally legal, but they are saying you'll be perfectly fine, insured and fine. And brief question, have you even seen what other posts that one jalopnik website posts? Unless you have personal experience with this shit, seen it happen, owned many of them and know personally you have no room to talk. Period. Dont sit there and try to educate people based off some shit you read on a blog, makes you look VERY DUMB. |

Nice S15. She's a beauty!
On another note. I've been in the car business for 15 + years. Any vehicle not manufactured for the USA and now in the USA is a GREY MARKET car. That does not in any way, shape or form mean that it is illegal as long as it has been imported properly/legally (paid taxes, inspected for USA emissions standards, etc) . There are different guidelines for GREY MARKET cars depending where they are from and weather that vehicle is also sold/not sold here in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. You can legally import a GREY MARKET 2017 FORD MUSTANG from Canada with no problems. That car is also sold here in the STATES with the same exact emissions standards. It will always be a GREY MARKET car but can be insured and registered 100% legally (BOTH FEDERALLY AND STATE LEGAL). When you start to get into trouble with the feds is when a GREY MARKET vehicle isn't produced for the UNITED STATES and do not meet our emission guidelines. If you don't know the right people and pay the the right amount of money most those vehicle would never leave the port because the FEDS manage anything that has to do with importation. Does the Sunshine state give a shit? Probably not. If you made it as far as getting that car out of the Port, do the FEDS care? Maybe not. When they start to care and you start bringing attention to yourself is when you start doing it on a larger scale and making money from it. MONEY is the answer. Its also the real reason why they started the 25 year rule besides the emissions bullshit. When it was legal people would import high end Luxury cars from Europe and other places. The manufacturers did not like this because they were losing lots of money on USDM units. It was hurting the US market and it was hurting our pocket while the other guys were getting rich. Long story short. Is it legal? NO. Do smarter people than me do it and get away with it? YES. Should you do it? Only if you're one of those smarter people...... Take this information for a grain of salt. Do your own research. Make your own decisions. Good luck with the sale man. I hope she goes to a good home! Hope to see her in person one day ![]() ![]() |

Haha well said man! Well said!
I couldn't agree more, one thing Id like to add to your very useful chunk of information is that from myself dealing and being around these cars for a while I learned that most of them actually come from California or other states on the west coast, they end up transporting them here via car transports and end up registering them here and moving them. |

This is only partly true because grey market cars have not been crash tested according to us law and they can not pass emissions. So you can fall through the cracks in some states but it is still 100 percent illegal and quite risky. All you have to do is get on the wrong side of the law and one day the fed is hauling your pride and joy off to the crusher.

Well the pinned rules for grey market cars
Says paperwork needs to be shown that the car is here legally and no flipping cars other than that I don't see anything why theirs such a rant If it was illegal doubt zilvia would let illegal cars on here cause the feds be after them And he stated it's insured as a 1999 car and saying that assuming the car is registered and insured in Florida so im assuming he has all needed paperwork it needs for Florida registration Ranting I know But beautiful cars do that to me lol Glws |
