5 spd swap Qs- Wiring questions

ok so i look at the tranny and I noticed that my neutral position switch is gone, the only thing left is the two prongs where the wire and plug connect to. and my reverse plug and wire has seperated from the prongs. but i dunno which wire goes to which prong. i was wondering, when i take my auto tranny off,can i unscrew the neutral and reverse plugs off the AT and put them onto the MT?

If you look at the auto you'll realize you don't have those switches.

The neutral switch is not needed, you can hardwire the reverse switch if you really want to keep it.

are you just tryin to get the thing running or have everything function right, cuz all i did was the jumper thats by the fuse box on passenger side, and I didnt even connect the trans harness, all that doesnt work is speedometer and odometer, and thats pretty self explanitory, I can do that later,

i want everythign to function right. but in my searches i have found that you dont need to have any of the four plugs from the tranny wired up. only need speed sensor wired up. but i also found that you must need the neutral swith wired up. im getting mixed reviews from my searches on different forums.

You answered your own question. You're getting mixed answers bcause you're looking all over for them. 60% of the forum participants anywhere are idiots (90% on NICO). You do NOT need anything connected to the transmission to operate the car, period. If you want a speedometer, hook up the VSS. If you want reverse lights, hook up the reverse switch. Those are the only two switches you would need, ever. Period.

The automatic transmission harness will have the reverse wire in it, but there's no switch like on a 5spd, you'll have to hardwire it in or use a 5spd harness. The VSS is separate and easy to find/connect. Auto cars do not have a neutral position switch like the 5spd, there's a feed wire but it's a +12V trigger, not ground like the 5spd. And you don't need it anyway.

Our cars have a Inhibitor switch on the automatics, it allows the car to only start in Park or Neutral. Dont't worry about the Neutral switch...

drft I hear you, while in the process of doing my at/mt sr swap, the biggest hurdle of the whole thing was weeding out the at/mt bullshit that I was being fed, and since I didnt have engine in, I couldnt test things out, but yah like r240 said,
