Acura TL HID's?

Would a set of HID's out of an 03 Acura TL work in a 98 240SX? I can't find the specs on what the TL's bulb size is.... so I thought maybe someone here would know.

Thanks,
Nate

No they will not work. I'm putting A4 projectors in my car soon and I will post a write-up incase you want to do something like that.

bulbs are D2R. That's the nice thing about not skimping and doing HID right, is that all HID projector cars have D2S bulbs and all HID reflector cars have D2R bulbs, so you can use any OEM bulb depending on what OEM setup you used.

Based on the above statement, since TL's have reflectors, they are D2R.

And I'll be doing a writeup on retrofitting projectors into a zenki S14 within the next 2 weeks, so I'll post that up too when I'm done.

yes they are. In fact HIDs from the 04 tl have one of the best intensities and cutoff for a bi-xenon system and its stil DOT approved.
CHeck out this link for pics of the 04 tl beam in action:

Here's a link to a previous post i made about the kouki HIDs.

you can find many projectors, ballasts, and burners on ebay and www.hidplanet.com in the F/S section. MUCH cheaper than dealer cost. guaranteed. I got all my stuff from people on hidplanet and projectors, ballasts with ignitors, a pair of d2s burners and a pair of d2r burners for $380 shipped.

all OEM HID are D.O.T. Why would the dealer install something illegal?

Kouki projectors are "halogen"
putting HID bulbs into those will cause glare and give out a very poor cutoff.
The best thing to do with a Kouki headlight is to do e46/audi a4/ or my favorite S2000 HID projector retrofit. All these are very easy to isntall on kouki because they're very similar in size.

HID are just not lights. there are many things behind these lighting technology.
Like many said. go to hidplanet.com You'll learn a lot and thanking yourself that you did it right the first time.
