^^^ I don’t like over paying for stuff.
Seems you can get most guns you want as long as you pay $150-300 over msrp.

Psshhh... In the AK world there are people paying "$1500-3000" over msrp for imported AK's on Gunjoker.
It's ironic how some imported AK's go for more than high end AR's (use to be the opposite about 10yrs ago). I guess that's how it goes when imports can be stopped at the swipe of the pen... |

Efile isnt avaible for form4 I did 2 efiles form 1 (sbr and solvent trap aka suppressor) took 45 days I did another 2 efile form 1 same sbr and ssuppressor...sitn at 60 days and still waiting. My form 4 suppressor i did it all thru silence shop kiosk at my local ffl. Super easy, took 15mins. Good to go...this one im expecting a LONG WAIT. I check reddit form 1/4 qpproval monthly treads...gives an idea of whats coming out. And from what ive heard..the fbi is being a dick on background checks..so if uve ever been fingerprinted for anything "bad" their taken sweet time on approvals. That was just hear say All individual no trusts |

Man that's a bummer. the last Form4 I did, we were able to EFile on a trust, and it was like 90 days.
I'm done with my form1 stuff, everything else I want now is all Form4 stuff...ugh.

Gun newbie here. What is the practical purpose of a suppressor?

Brings the db(noise level) down to hearing safe level Nothing says "enjoyable" when firing a gun and it slowly making you and others around go deaf Adding a suppressor with combination of sub-sonic ammunition will achieve the best effect. Where some suppressors help drastically, its not like in the movies, or politicians sayn, u dont hear anything. Simply not true |

dB of a gunshot is between 140 and 175. I haven't seen hearing protection with an NRR of higher than 37, so assuming you're wearing that, each gunshot is still between 103dB and 128dB. My 3M Peltor hearing protection is mid-20s NRR iirc, so it cannot attenuate to safe levels.
80-85dB is at the low limit of the NIOSH red tier for hearing damage. 100dB is the low limit for hearing damage after 15 minutes of exposure; 128dB is above the "pain and ear injury" threshold. Ammunition To Go did a comparison test. .308Win was between 170-173 decibels unsuppressed, and 147-151 decibels suppressed. 5.56 was between 166-171 decibels unsuppressed, and 135-144 decibels suppressed. .22LR was between 145-153 decibels unsuppressed, and 119-129 decibels suppressed. Pistol calibers saw 167dB max unsuppressed and 134-146 decibels suppressed. Additional testing I've seen showed subsonic 9mm at 163dB unsuppressed and 126dB suppressed. Now remember that every 10dB means sound energy is increased by a factor of ten, and every 20dB means sound energy is increased by a factor of 100. So a suppressor reduces sound energy by at least a factor of 100. Like s14 said, politicians buy into this idea that suppressors make all guns super quiet like in movies, when in reality, they're just additional hearing protection. |

Small but important blurb from that article Quote:
While registering them does jack shit, I'd rather that than a seizure of weapons.

I mean, I'm with you. However, we all had to register our Machine Guns, SBR's, and Suppressors back in 1934, 1968, and 1986 respectively. And the government hasnt seized any of those items at all yet, or even talked about it.

There are red flag laws that is goverment actively coming and stripping americans of their firearms Now...you have goverment leaders, soon to be president out right stating they will take them away. Most politicians. Will lie to to, this administration is straight out telling you were gonna take them. And i challenge what would be benefit for having a gun registration? How does that make the country any safer? Smoke and mirrors Look at Washington dc, where all legal purchesed firearms have tobe registered....look at the crime rate, homocide that is gun related... its one of the wrost in the country |

I agree it doesnt. And it doesnt matter, I lost all mine in a horrific boating accident a few years ago. Only 3 items survived, consequently, it's the 3 the NFA already knows about.

They're forcing registration to know where to look for specific things. This will give them the ability to see how much you have and find a reason why you're unfit to own these items and find a way to seize. While it's a wild theory, it was almost implemented once and Hillary was knocking on that door again. Gun control makes society less important and weak. I have well over 100 AR's alone, never mind the other assortment of handguns, bolt-actions, piston-driven rifles, etc. Being a gunsmith on the side has its perks. I assure you they will not come seize my 'collection.' They'd have to tear out the complete basement of my home and partial piece of my other home in the mountains. Hard pass.
