Red top no oil squirters?
Hey guys so I have my sr block built at a machine shop, it was originally stock. I had it built at a machine shop and it ran fine. Later on I decided to do an ACL oil pump and head gasket. After that my sr started but it had no oil pressure and at a cam. So that was shitty. Anyways I?m going to pull the head and inspect the block. I Laos know it does not have oil squirters,it is a factory det so they must of been not installed. Anyways are they necessary?

All that to say, if they are blocked, you can reinstall them. If the block isn?t drilled for it, it was an NA block at one point.

Yes you want oil squirts for stock pistons, the cooling benefits are absolutely one of the best thing the engine has to offer for the factory cast pistons.
High temp, high EGT is death for stock pistons. Everything you do when tuning and setting up a stock piston engine should revolve around protecting the temperature of factory pistons. -Water injection near the cylinders -EGT monitoring -Alcohol fuel recommended -Colder spark plugs -Pressure test for boost leaks -IAT sensor safety features -Fuel cooling -etc.... The stock sr pistons can support tremendous power output if they can remain cool. Around 125hp/cylinder in my experience (450rwhp). They are Identical to 2jz-gte pistons and combustion chambers (750bhp from 2jz-gte is common for 200,000 miles) |

I been running my stock block Sr20det on e85 and 20psi for 7 or so years now and did the same on my old ka-T 15 years ago. (As mentioned above ensuring the tune/ecu is setup to keep the stock pistons happy they do good). |
