Given that used T56s have been going for TKO money for years, it's great. This isn't a "for everyone" transmission, but I think it's a no brainer for LS swap cars, compared to the typical combination of used transmissions and adapter kits.

The problem with using this transmission for LS swaps is fitment. Most people doing LS swaps are going to be using one of the many available swap kits. And all of these kits are designed around the T56. Using something else (like the TKX) is going to require a custom transmission crossmember and dealing with a shifter that is in the wrong location. Given that a TKX already costs close to $3000, it just makes sense to spend just a few hundred more and get a Magnum F. This way, you get a transmission that actually fits using off the shelf part and doesn?t require hacking your transmission tunnel to deal with a shifter in the wrong location. Oh, and you also get an extra gear.

Yeah duh. The thread wasn't about using this with LS swaps, but putting it behind SRs, KAs, JZs etc.

Maybe not. But he DID say that it was a ‘no brainer’ for LS swaps. Also, there could be issues with using this transmission with other engines (such as SRs, KAs, and JZs) since upgrades using T56-based transmissions are so well-established. I couldn’t help but notice the cut transmission tunnel posted above.

Not to say that the TKX is a bad transmission, of course. It would be a better choice when you want a five speed (rather than six speed) and in applications that either can’t fit a T56 or where a lighter weight transmission is advantageous. However, as a T56 substitute, it is an awkward fit that isn’t a whole lot cheaper than a new Magnum.

But you can now adapt it to any Nissan engine with the auto gearbox bellhousing and Chris Forsebergs new adapter plate, which makes for a much easier swap than to a T56, and no machining needed like other transmission swaps, and no terrible shifter like a CD009 swap. Only the RB has a T56 adapter, and it is the very loud steel SFI bellhousing.

Is the Tremec less "tall" cause the cd009 fits like shit and all this noise and vibration is garbage.... I am going 110 on the track and I think the driveline isn't exactly straight horizontally with the pinion and get vibrations. Vertically its aligned.... Maybe its a weird angle.... but I hate it...... Also notchy af....

Are there advantages between this and zf?

Am I missing something? Does the GSR have the same bolt pattern as the TKX?

Yes, it does. Same old school circle track four bolt pattern.

Not 100% sure on dimensions with the Auto bellhousing and adapter, but it is a very compact transmission in general.

Advantages over ZF? How about handling way more torque? TKX is rated to 600 ft/lbs (and can probably handle a lot more), no way the factory ZF is rated for that.
