200sx / CA18det no start issues

posting this moreso for a friend that has a CA18DET/200sx and wanted to see if anyone here who has one that is more knowledgable about any nuiance issues/things that these have that could potentially cause it to have the issue it's having. For starters my friend picked this car up, it did run BUT it was in rough shape (was a drift car previously). When he got it he wanted to clean things up a bit, the engine was knocking and he had a spare CA18DET. He's mechanically inclined so i helped him out, i pulled the old engine, swapped in the good used engine. The timing belt was cracked bad so i set it to TDC, removed the old belt (thing was about to pop at any moment), installed the new belt found a PDF file that showed the teeth count on the belt from crank to the exhaust cam, and the count between the exhaust cam to the intake cam. After all that it would crank but not start. One thing I believe could have happened is maybe between pulling the bad engine and putting the better used engine in is that MAYBE the engine harness could have been on its last legs. I say that because the old engine did run but now this one doesnt, checked for spark and there isnt any spark. Also checked the injector pigtails on the OEM engine harness and only 1 of them pick up with the light, the rest don't do a thing which leads me to believe maybe the original harness could have some broken wires inside the old wire gauge. Any help/tips or anything CA18det specific that could also cause issues to prevent it from running would be very helpful. Appreciate any info in advance.

Cam angle sensor good? When my CA18DET didn't start it was two things; cam angle sensor and the fuel injector ballast resistor

I believe so, on the engine that was knocking it ran so that cam sensor had to have been good. The used import engine had a CAS on it, so originally i didn't remove it but then after it didnt start i swapped the old CAS to the better engine but still no start.
