Rear end noise is driving me nuts

This sound is driving me crazy. It's hard to describe it... it's kinda sounds like RURUUUMMPPHHHH RARRAMMMPPHHHH , not a snapping or clicking sound... I guess u could describe it is a groan? Wheel bearings have no play, rear sway bar is on tight and no leaking ball joint (i think). While I'm driving, it just makes the sound at the strangest times... at first I thought it would do it when the roads were bumpy, but sometimes it wouldn't. WHen I go over speed bumps, I usually don't hear it. Usually when I start up my car and just drive down my parking lot, I hear the noise but it doesn't necessarily make it when the shocks are compressed or when the car starts bouncing (my shocks are set to softest.)

I've tried the following to pinpoint where it's coming from:

-Set shocks to stiffest setting... no difference
-Pushed down on the rear corners of the car... I hear it when I jump up and down hard enough.
-Lifted the car by the diff with the wheels off , wiggled , pushed, and lifted every piece of the rear suspension I could think of.
-Wiggled the exhaust, no sounds.
-Taken out rear interior, spare wheel, etc. no difference
-swapped wheels, no difference.

For now, the only things I can think of that might be causing the sound are my subframe spacers, trunk (maybe there's someting that's in need of greasing), or springs/shocks. I'm really leaning towards subframe... but the noise didn't start until about 4 months after I installed the spacers... some threads say noise should be decreased with the spacers, and others say the car will be noiser with them... what does that noise sound like? Well, if anyone has any ideas, feel free to tell me... otherwise I'll have to waste more money buying sockets and grease trying out my hopeless ideas.

sorry to bring a dead thread to life but i have been searcing for the same thing, and i think this may be the culprit.

how big is your exhaust? i had the ezact sam problem...i even shook the exhaust and it didnt rattle but it turned out that the exhaust was shaking

might want to check your diff, a friend had the same problem, turned out one of the seals went & the diff was almost dry. needless to say it didn't like that.
