Check the cables going to your battery posts. Make sure they are not loose & are firmly attached to the posts. Take a voltmeter and measure the amount of current going to the battery as the car idles. You should be averaging a little above 14 volts. Anything higher, (or lower) means your alternator is not working properly. Before you test the alternator, make sure to check the battery cables for any shorts. A short in the wiring can also lead to poor charging of the battery.
