hey i'm looking to get a '90 240sx and to do the SR20DET swap with a front clip. So here are the questions:
-Does is matter that my engine in the SOHC if i'm swapping it out anyway?
-What can I do to get more horse out of the engine than the stock hp?
-What level of boost is safe to use without killing the turbo, or worse, the engine? For daily driving?
-What is a good FMIC to use with the SR?
-What kind of intake is best for the engine after the swap?
-Anyone in PA know where I can get the swap done for a reasonable price? Maybe NJ?
-What boost controller do you guys recommend? I like the Blitz SBC-iD(i think its called)
I think thats it... sorry so many questions but i've used the search and it didnt work, plus i've done a bunch of research online but i just needed some input and help. Thanks a lot to anyone who answers!

here's ur awnsers...(imma n00b too tho)
-No, it doesn't.
-You can do LOTS...Turbo, I,E,H...Fuel Mangement, all that kinda shit
-a Daily boost, im not too sure, but my guess would be around 7-9 psi wouldn't hurt it
-an intercooler from a Skyline works Nicely, but any intercooler will work, from Greddy, HKS, Apex, ect...i suggest going for a nice big one
-That one ur gonna have to reseasrch a bit...as there's a TON of aftermarket intakes for the sr20...(that's like saying what intake is best for b16a. there's lots.)
-Again...Sorry, i have no idea...there might be a shop located near you...that can do that...but the people would need to have a lot of experience...an sr20 swap isin't your daily average run of the mill type thing.
-Blitz Sequential Id works rather well i think...but there's a lot...you should be able to find something that works pretty well...check out www.apexusa.com , www.greddy.com , www.hksusa.com , www.optionsauto.com for some Boost Controllers

Anyways, those might not be the exact awnsers your looking for...as im a n00ber, and i dont even have a car yet
I plan on a 96 or 97 240 with an s15 sr20det vtc swap, or maybe an rb

xylathane listen i dont mean to be an ass but you said some wrong stuff there. intercoolers shouldnt be the biggest you can find. they should be what you need. bigger intercoolers for no reason will give you lag. intakes: get a k&n kit and make your own. as for mods you gotta know wacha want todo with the car and how much hp you want. and there are no headers for an sr20det. there are aftermarket turbo manifolds though and there far and rare.

S13 crave try to find someone with an SR first and drive there car. the car with the sr20det in is pretty powerful already try it first then think of buying upgrades.

Okay here we go:

Does it matter- No
More hp- sky is the limit, tons of aftermarket support
boost level- 10psi
FMIC- basically 3 choices: Greddy RSPEC- $999.99
                                   Greddy VSPEC- $899.99
                                    Blitz LM Series- $859.99

Boost controller- I use a HKS evc4, but have also used an EVC EZ too. I like both of them........Hope this helps somewhat

14psi is the limit of the stock SR injectors. Also, I've had good experiences with the Greddy Profec B. Good, cheap, electronic boost controller.

I've seen stock injectors pushing up to 16 psi.

It does matter that the engine is SOHC - the wiring will be different. It doesn't make it much harder, though - in any case, assuming you're doing this yourself, I'd send the harness away.

14 psi is the highest safe boost level you'll run on the red top - higher on newer SRs.

I have the S-AFC boost controller, pretty easy to use. I also have the Blitz I/C, which is beautiful, has tube and fin design (vs. bar and plate for Greddy...some say that tube and fin is better), is more than big enough (I couldn't even use my bumper support) and is a good value.

To raise horsepower, I'd say a 3" exhaust, 3" downpipe, boost controller, BOV, S-AFC (to correct the air fuel ratio after the BOV - you'll run rich with an atmospheric BOV). An intake doesn't give too much...I'm running HKS on mine. It'll maybe give you 5 hp, but with as much horsepower as you'll be running, thats not much.

I'm in northern VA, right near DC, if you want to drive down and take a ride in my car, maybe take it for a spin. Email me if you're interested - [email protected].

As i said.
Some of my awnsers MAY be wrong because i am a n00ber with no Car.

but yeah, its ok...
I just think that Large intercoolers are nice...i didn't know if it was too big, it gave excessive lag...
