i dont thing it is the starter because the motor turned over without a problem right before i changed the tranny. Could the starter have gone out since then. Is there anyway to check to see if it is the starter?

Thanks,
Anthony

Does it just click?

Double check the starter wires, and make sure they are grounded for sure.

Try and tap the starter with a hammer and see if it helps any.

If it started fine then you probably don't have the wires hooked up properly or at all... Make sure they didn't fall off. The ground tends to do that to me...

does your battery loose? or may be the starter got some problem, try to use something to hit the starter motor a few time then try to start it again, it may work for u, at least work for me last time

Maybe the starter isn't placed into the trans properly. I 2nd the battery check. Also... make sure the starter wires are put in the right place.

TheTicTac your are right it was the neutral switch and now the car starts fine. Now when i drove the the car it drove fine until i got around 40 mph and then the car doesn't not want to go anymore and the rpms start to rise. But when i put it in 2nd the cars accelerates past 40 and keeps going but it sounds like the engine is working hard. Could i have put the torque converter in wrong or what. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Anthony

Actually you kinda don't need the other sensors, the main one you need is the speed sensor. Did you properly install the pressure plate back on? You have to torque it in a criss cross pattern, also did you resurface the flywheel or get a new T/O bearing?

It is a automatic so it don't have a pressure plate or t/o bearing. I think it might be the speed sensor or another hommie told me it might be the cable next to the throttle cable. The problem that im having is that it seems to not want to shift correctly. So if any of you guys have solutions im open to any.

Thanks,
Anthony

Oh I thought you swapped your tranny out with a 5spd. Well check if you have everything connected, IIRC there is a resistor near the powersteering resv. that does causes the tranny to behave weird when not plugged in.
